Did you know that your lost pet could turn up at Animal Care and Control? Are you thinking of getting a flu shot? Do you know where to get a radon test kit? We have information about all of those areas in the October Healthy Lake County video. All it takes is four minutes of your time.

The Heal 
Animal Care and Control has added an extra low-cost pet clinic this season. From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 20 the clinic will be held in Beach Park.

With National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center maintains that now is an opportune time for women to consider how their choices may be putting them more at risk of breast cancer. Taming the Candy Monster

Halloween has evolved into one of the most celebrated holidays of the year for adults and children. Adults can make it even better for their children with a plan for eating those goodies collected door-to-door.    

Do you know the leaf burning restrictions in your community? Here is a list of municipalities and their restrictions.   

The number of pertussis cases in Lake County thus far this year (178) have already surpassed lastyear's total for the full year (175). This is the highest number of cases reported since 1959. Learn what you can do to prevent the spread of pertussis, also known as whooping cough. 

family The Health Department's Diabetes Prevention Program is  inviting families to a free event in Highland Park wherein they can receive screenings for things such as blood sugar, diabetes and bone density as well as spend time exercising with activities such as swimming, zumba and an obstacle course.
