I would like to provide an update on a countywide initiative that is focused on improving health and quality of life in Lake County. The Lake County Health Department and many local public health system partners throughout Lake County have been implementing a community health assessment and improvement process called MAPP (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships). Well Owners Can Receive a Break on Testing Rate
 Private well owners can get a break on their water testing rate from March 12 through March 22 as the Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center observes National Ground Water Awareness Week.

Low-Cost Pet Clinic Set for March 10
dogWarmer months are on the way and that means the startup of a series of low-cost pet vaccination clinics held by the Health Department's Animal Care and Control program in conjunction with other organizations throughout Lake County. On March 10, the clinic will be held in collaboration with the 4-H at the Fremont Township facility, 22376 W. Erhart Road, near Mundelein. Read more about the program.  
Families Learn to Make Healthier Choices

boysIn one room children are running in potato sack races and in another room their parents are learning how to stay healthy by staying physically active. There is something for everyone in the family at a weekly program offered in March and June through the Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center's North Shore Health Center in Highland Park. Teens Active in Waukegan for Kick Butts Day 

In honor of Kick Butts Day in March, youths in Lake County's chapter of REALITY Illinois are partnering with Waukegan Park District and the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County to promote tobacco-free parks. REALITY Illinois is provided through the Health Department's Tobacco Free Lake County program. Read more. 


Monthly Clinic Change Reminder

The five monthly satellite walk-in clinics for child immunizations in Lake Zurich, Antioch, Lake Forest, Libertyville and Wauconda will end, effective April 1 while hours are expanded at the main appointment-only clinic for immunizations at the Belvidere Medical Building campus in Waukegan.
