CHS Masthead

From the President

On the administrative front we have a few changes.  As Cynthia Jane Collins, M.Div., M.S., retires from her position as Academic Dean, she leaves us with the tremendous legacy of all the work she's done over the past two years in designing the new Master of Divinity and Master of Pagan Studies programs which will be developed in our quest for accreditation. What she has contributed is immeasurable, and we extend our gratitude.  We could not have come this far, especially in so short a time, without her contributions.

Selena Rifkin, M.S., formerly our Web and Moodle Tech, now serves at Executive Assistant to Executive Director Holli Emore, thus freeing Holli of some of the more administrative duties so she can give her attention to the bigger picture of CHS development - and funding.

I tip my pointy black hat to all our volunteers at CHS.  Without your generosity of time and spirit, we would not have the resources to continue.  And now we need financial help from all of you reading this who believe, as we do, in our mission of providing professional ministry skills to Pagans.

Yours in changing culture,

Aline O'Brien (Macha)
Board President

Staff Member Changes
Selina Rifkin, L.M.T., M.S. and current Webmistress for CHS, is expanding her duties to Executive Assistant to the Director.  Selina is a graduate of Temple University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. In 1998 she graduated from the Downeast School of Massage in Maine where she specialized in sports massage. She is licensed as a massage therapist in both Maine and Connecticut, but currently spends most of her time in Connecticut.  In 2006 she completed her Masters program in Nutrition with a focus on traditional foods, and the work of Weston A. Price. She believes in a holistic approach to healing and is happy to be able to offer her clients a personalized approach that addresses individual needs.  She started working for Cherry Hill Seminary in 2008 as their web mistress and within a few months was running Moodle. She has also been on the planning committee for the summer intensive.

Selina recognized she was Pagan in her late teens. She has been a solitary practitioner, but has also participated in many circles in several different traditions. In 2003, she served for a year as a treasurer for the Pagan Community Church in CT, during which she helped run Beltaine: A Pagan Odyssey, serving as vendor coordinator, and creating and leading a group fire-lighting ritual. She has attended Rites of Spring for the last seven years and most recently taught Paganism and the Warrior Paradigm at that event.  Her spirituality is expressed through both her practice as a massage therapist, and as a martial artist and enjoys the dynamic tension between the two arts. She has been a massage therapist for nine years, and uses both Reiki and Cranio-sacral. Selina has been studying Shaolin Kempo for eleven years and Tai chi for six years, and holds a third degree black belt.

"Its been such a long, odd journey to get to this place. I had been thinking of taking classes at CHS since I found out about it a Rites of Spring 2000 from the founder. Right away I got roped into doing a little web site work and then got drawn into the Moodle. Cherry Hill has an exciting vision for the future of Paganism and I'm proud and thrilled to be part of it. I view the role of this organization as vital to being recognized as a legitimate religion. Only with this recognition can we serve our vulnerable populations."

CynthiaWe regret to announce that Ms. Cynthia Jane Collins no longer serves Cherry Hill Seminary as Academic Dean.  Her contributions towards our degrees have been immeasurable and we wish her continued success in all her endeavors.
Michael York on Voices of the Sacred Feminine
Michael York, an instructor with Cherry Hill Seminary, will be appearing on Karen Tate's show Voices of the Sacred Feminine.  He'll be discussing his recent paper, Men Who Love The Goddess, which was presented at the Parliament of World Religions.

The Wild Hunt in Social Science Research Study
The Wild Hunt blog, written by Cherry Hill Board Member Jason Pitzl-Waters, is included in the Social Science Research Council's latest study, The New Landscape of the Religion Blogosphere.  The study examines almost 100 of the most influential religious blogs and places them in the context of the blogosphere as a whole.  The purpose at hand is to foster a more self-reflective, collaborative, and mutually-aware religion blogosphere. Ideally, this report will spark discussion among religion bloggers that will take their work further, while also inviting new voices from outside existing networks to join in and take part.
