I want to welcome you all to the beginning of our dialogue about all things related to the 2010 STIHL Tour des Trees. This is a new format for presenting the musings from the Tour Director, one I hope you will enjoy and more importantly one that will inform and hopefully entertain you. Take time to explore the new format and give me any feedback that you think will make the newsletter more meaningful to you. Those of you who have been part of the Tree Family during my tenure know that I am a proponent of efficiency when it comes to training especially given that we are all juggling full schedules and are pushed just to get a few hours a week in the saddle. Anyway I can't emphasize enough the importance of intensity when it comes to time management on the bike, there will come a time, in what I hope is a not too distant future when long rides will be an important element of the training regimen but for now think spinning classes, interval work on the trainer or if your lucky enough to be cycling outside, short purposeful rides!

And lastly as important as maintaining fitness on the bike and addressing any strength shortcomings you may have is a thoughtful approach for managing your diet. We must be mindful of the quality of the food we eat plus have a sound nutritional strategy for ensuring that you have adequate fuel for our lifestyle. RULES OF THE ROAD
As the experienced Tour des Trees cyclists knows unless the group is being led by a police escort then we are required to adhere to the "rules of road".
