ILLINOIS TOLLWAY MEETING REGARDING ROUTE 53

July 15, 2011 at 9 AM

Lake County Central Permit Facility

500 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville

The Illinois Tollway will be holding a Capital Planning Forum in our area to collect input into its 10 year capital plan, as well as present its future needs, funding challenges, and emerging priority projects.

The Extension of Route 53 will be a large part of the meeting.  Since it is such an important issue in our area, I wanted to make sure you are aware of the meeting.

To learn more about the Tollway's capital planning process and submit comments on-line, visit the  Tollway's website. If you cannot make the meeting, you can submit a comment to the Tollway here. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments at the meeting.

Advisory Committee Established by the Illinois Tollway

Illinois Tollway Executive Director Kristi Lafleur recently announced the formation of an "Illinois Route 53 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council."  The panel, which will be made up of diverse stakeholders, is charged with reaching consensus on the northern extension of Route 53 into Lake County.  This would include recommending a series of best practices for an integrated, multi-modal corridor that is financially viable, environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.

A new dental discount card program is now available that will help Lake County residents save money on their dental service expenses.

Individuals or families may opt to pay for a monthly or yearly membership. The cost for a yearly individual membership is $59 and $69 for families.

More than 200 providers in Lake County are participating in this program. Discount card holders will receive significant savings from these providers on dental cleanings, x-rays, braces, dentures, crowns, root canals and more. This plan is not insurance.

Cardholders can simply schedule an appointment with a participating dentist or specialist and present their card to receive a discount at the time of service.
