Winchester House Advisory Board Recommends Changes to Winchester House Operations |
Due to recent changes in federal and state law that significantly impact the amount of Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements that are distributed to Winchester House, as well other factors, an advisory board is recommending that Lake County consider contracting with a private company to run operations. The focus of the recommendation is to preserve Winchester House's mission of providing long-term nursing care to residents.
Winchester House is a skilled nursing facility located in Libertyville that is owned and operated by Lake County government. The Winchester House Advisory Board, made up of Lake County residents with extensive healthcare and financial expertise and two members of the County Board (myself and Carol Calabresa from Libertyville), has been working with Lake County staff for many months evaluating the facility's operational performance, financial management, market position, and financial viability of a new facility. two student groups arriving this summer

Compass USA is an organization dedicated to international exchange programs that promote cultural and language education.
Two student groups will be visiting our area for:
- 3 weeks, July 6-July 26 or
- 4 weeks, July 9 - August 5

NEW Dental Discount Card
 A new dental discount card program is now available that will help Lake County residents save money on their dental service expenses.
Individuals or families may opt to pay for a monthly or yearly membership. The cost for a yearly individual membership is $59 and $69 for families.
More than 200 providers in Lake County are participating in this program. Discount card holders will receive significant savings from these providers on dental cleanings, x-rays, braces, dentures, crowns, root canals and more. This plan is not insurance.
Cardholders can simply schedule an appointment with a participating dentist or specialist and present their card to receive a discount at the time of service.
To sign up for the Dental Discount Card Program, residents can download a registration form at: www.nacodentalprogram.com. A list of participating providers and more information is available.
Prescription Drug Discount Card
County residents can take advantage of a prescription drug discount card program.
The card is free and accepted at most pharmacies. The average card savings is 20 percent off retail prices.
This is intended for people without prescription coverage or on medicines not covered by your plan. The card may also be used where accepted to fill prescriptions for pets.
