Route 12 Closed Between Plum Grove Road and Deer Park Blvd.

 

Please be advised that a major gas leak is occurring in the jurisdiction of Kildeer that has caused the closing of Route 12.

 

Route 12 is closed from Plum Grove Road to Deer Park Blvd.  Nicor possible repair time is 3-6 hours (as of 3 PM). I wanted to make sure you are aware prior to the evening commute.

 

 

Please be advised that the Lake County Department of Transportation is currently be delivering 3 message boards to route detours.  They will be placed at the following locations to detour vehicles from the scene: 

 

1)South Bound Route 12 North of Quentin

 

2)West Bound Lake Cook-Hicks At Route 53

 

3)North Bound 12 South Lake Cook and Route 12

Vernon Hills Water System Construction Notice

   

Tuesday, January 25 - Thursday, January 27 and

Tuesday, February 1 - Thursday, February 3

 

The Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency (CLCJAWA), which provides water to the Vernon Hills and Mettawa areas, will be performing construction to its water delivery system on Tuesday, January 25 through Thursday, January 27 and Tuesday, February 1 through Thursday, February 3 that may impact customers in Vernon Hills and Mettawa.

 

Water service to County customers will not be interrupted, however there may be fluctuations in water pressure during the construction period. Any severe pressure losses should be reported directly to the Lake County Public Works Department at (847) 377-7500 or (847) 309-0266.

 

These construction periods may have to be extended or modified depending upon weather and/or construction delays. 

 

Hawthorn School Dist. 73 Hosts Finance Forum

Hawthorn School District 73 will host a finance forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 at Hawthorn Middle South, 600 N. Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills.

 

The forum will outline the work of the district's Financial Advisory Task Force and those volunteers' ideas for closing an anticipated $1.5 million to $2 million gap in next year's budget.

 

The task force will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 16 at the Hawthorn District Office, 841 West End Court, Vernon Hills. Its recommendation is expected to be presented to the Hawthorn board of education during its Feb. 28 meeting...

NEW Dental Discount Card
 

A new dental discount card program is now available that will help Lake County residents save money on their dental service expenses.

 

Individuals or families may opt to pay for a monthly or yearly membership. The cost for a yearly individual membership is $59 and $69 for families.

 

More than 200 providers in Lake County are participating in this program. Discount card holders will receive significant savings from these providers on dental cleanings, x-rays, braces, dentures, crowns, root canals and more. This plan is not insurance.

  

Cardholders can simply schedule an appointment with a participating dentist or specialist and present their card to receive a discount at the time of service. 

  

To sign up for the Dental Discount Card Program, residents can download a registration form at: www.nacodentalprogram.com.  A list of participating providers and more information is available.

 
Prescription Drug Discount Card

County residents can take advantage of a prescription drug discount card program. 

The card is free and accepted at most pharmacies.  The average card savings is 20 percent off retail prices.
This is intended for people without prescription coverage or on medicines not covered by your plan. 

The card may also be used where accepted to fill prescriptions for pets.
