AARON LAWLOR
County Board - District 18

AaronLawlor2Dear Friend,

It has been a busy time at the County Building and on the Forest Preserve Board.

We continue to evaluate spending and work to cut costs.  In these tough times we need to do more with less.  Which is why I have proposed or voted for over 12 spending cuts - more than one for every month I have served on the County and Forest Preserve Boards.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with your questions and concerns regarding this or other issues.  You can reach me via email or on my cell at (224) 639-3138.

It is an honor to serve you on the County Board and Forest Preserve Board.

Sincerely,
Aaron Lawlor

Because You Asked...

2008QueensSeveral residents have asked when road improvements at the Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21) and Half Day Road (Route 22) will FINALLY be done.

Since both roads are state routes, the Illinois Department of Transportation is responsible for conducting the work.

The project is scheduled to be complete by September 26, 2010.

For information on other road projects in the area, please visit: http://www.lakecountyil.gov/transportation.

Streamlined Process for Shed Construction

It is now much easier for homeowners in the unincorporated area to place a shed on their property.

The County Board adopted a new, streamlined process in time for summer, the peak season for shed projects. The new rule, effective immediately, exempts residential sheds (100 square feet or less) from County permit requirements.

Property owners are required to read and agree to location requirements and pay a nominal registration fee of $25. Prior to the change, the cost for a shed permit was $101.

Residents no longer need to drive to the County's permit facility to obtain a permit. The form can be found online, and returned to us by:
If you have questions, please call (847) 377-2600.

Health Department Activates West Nile Hotline

Health Department Activates West Nile Virus Hotline

Mosquito

The Health Department has re-activated the West Nile virus hotline for county residents to report dead birds, report areas of stagnant water (which are conducive to mosquito breeding), or to obtain more information on the signs and symptoms of West Nile encephalitis.

The West Nile virus hotline number is:  (847) 377-8300.

The Health Department is urging residents to prevent mosquito breeding and to prevent mosquito bites. While most people infected with WNV have no symptoms of illness, some may become ill, usually three to 15 days after the bite of an infected mosquito.

The virus may occasionally cause serious complications. In some individuals, particularly the elderly, the virus can cause muscle weakness, stiff neck, inflammation of the brain (encephalitis), stupor, disorientation, tremors, convulsions, paralysis, coma or death. Information about WNV can be found on the Department's Web site at: http://www.lakecountyil.gov/Health/resources/WNV.htm
