Greetings!
We wrapped up a wonderful year this last week with a great all school family picnic and graduation ceremony for our 8th graders. Students Jay Z and Sasha O spoke movingly for the 8th graders, the Village Ringers played beautifully and we all enjoyed the fabulous slide show put together by Robyn Mesenbring. Thanks to all who contributed toward such a successful year. As I mentioned to the students at the awards ceremony on Friday, I have deeply appreciated serving as director these last 5 years. When school resumes in the fall, David Glick will be in the directors chair. Take care and enjoy your summer! |
Summer Schedule
The teachers will spend the next 2 weeks finalizing grades for all students. Look for report cards and NWEA test scores in the mail around the middle of June.New student paperwork will be sent out in July and new student orientations will be held in late August. More specific dates will be published as we get closer. The next News From the Village will be published in early August. For families who no longer have a student enrolled in CVA, unless you reply to this email otherwise, you will be removed from this mailing list after this edition. If you have questions or need assistance, please email or call the office (651)523-7170 ext 200 and someone will get back to you as soon as they can.

New! IB-MYP Progress Report
When we changed to the Moodle platform last year, after some tinkering we found a way to report criterion scores for each MYP unit. (Each of the eight MYP subjects has criteria that teachers use to assess student learning. The criteria are the same in each MYP school around the world.) This marks the first year that parents and guardians of Level 1, 2, 3, and 3+ students will receive an MYP Progress Report. Teachers will review student MYP progress and report scores on the new progress report form. Please note that you will continue to receive the usual CVA grade report. The MYP Progress Report is an additional end-of-the-school-year form designed to show parents how students are doing. When looking at scores with students, it's typical for MYP teachers to encourage students to "bump it up to the next level." For questions or more information about the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, please go to http://www.ibo.org/myp/or contact Cherie Neima. |
Summer Chinese Classes
Summer Chinese language classes at the Confucius Institute start on Tuesday, June 12! Confucius Institute classes are designed for members of the general public who are interested in starting or continuing their study of Mandarin Chinese. Our classes provide the general framework for advancing your study of Chinese without grades or required homework assignments. We have small class sizes. All of our instructors are native speakers of Chinese and several of them are graduate students at the University who are studying teaching Chinese as a second language. CVA is not affiliated with these classes, just wanted to let you know of their availability.
