Greetings!
One of the highlights of our school year is the annual musical. Over the last few years CVA students have performed The Pied Piper of Hamlin, The Nightingale, Tom Sawyer, Treasure Island and this year the Elephant's Child. It is great fun to see our students develop their musical and acting abilities and we deeply appreciate the creativity and resourcefulness of Jennifer Naglak to pull these outstanding productions together on a shoestring budget! Details are below, but I hope that you will come and bring friends and family next Friday night to CVA to support and encourage the students for a job well done! David Alley |

The Reading MCA will be on April 23 and April 24 from 8:30 - 10:00. All students will be testing at the same time. The test will be in paper format as it has been in previous years. Please be sure that your student is well rested and has eaten a nutritious breakfast.
Want to give your student some practice opportunities? Click here for directions to access an item sampler. You will need your child's Marss # which you can find on last year's MCA test results or email Melissa and she can get it for you.

Spotlight on Students Level 1 students had a great time being risk-takers at a field trip to Vertical Endeavors, a climbing wall facility in Minneapolis on Thursday. They set personal goals, kept on trying and supported each others efforts enthusiastically. Many thanks to Amanda Granse, Patty McDonald, Mark Goodell and Chris Tibbits for their help chaperoning. |

Level 2 Child Labor Fundraiser
Level 2 is doing a fundraiser for those children affected by child labor. They have chosen to raise money for an organization called Zindagi Trust. The organization helps aid in the education of children who are a part of child labor.
Feel free to check out the website.
$75 funds a year of primary education for a child worker. Hopefully we can raise enough money to fund the
education of 4 children!
Level 2 is asking for donations of $3. This donation will help support Zindagi Trust and children in Pakistan.
You can donate more if you'd like!
Your child's donation will also purchase an ELECTRONICS PASS. He/she will be able to use this pass on Monday, April 16 during his/her Advisory time. He/she can bring in electronics to use during Advisory (and Advisory only).
This might be an iPod, PSP or DS.
REMEMBER - CVA IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS. Allow something that your child can keep track of and be responsible for.
Together we can make a difference - a little goes a long way!

Dress Rehearsal - Friday, April 13th at CVA
Cast - 1:00 - 3:00 (12:30 if you need help costuming)

The Cast are students who have auditioned and received a special role in the show. The Chorus members are all of the students in the school.
For the dress rehearsal, enter quietly and wait at the back of the gym for instructions.
We are really looking forward to a wonderful show this year. Parents, please note that this is a scheduled, all school activity that all students should attend. If your child is ill, please call in as you would for a regular school day and report your student's illness. If your student must miss the performance for a family event or other activity the student is a regular member of, please consider carefully the absence and phone the school or write a note excusing your child. Unexcused absences will receive a failing grade for the performance. There will be a make-up assignment posted in Moodle. Having a full chorus is very important for the production and is encouraging to everyone!
Any questions, please email or call Mrs. Naglak at 651-523-7170 ex 211.

Calling all Artists It seems that our artists are overly busy, so we won't be hosting an art sale at this point. If you are interested in seeing this come about in the future let Mrs. Naglak know.
