RED BARAAT

Monday, August 27

Bollywood Festival begins * 6:30 PM
Performance * 7:30 PM

FSU Clocktower Quad

It's a Bhangra dance party on the campus of Frostburg State University and you are invited! Come shake your hips to the exhilarating music of Red Baraat, which the Chicago Reader has called "fun as hell." Led by masterful dhol drummer Sunny Jain, Red Baraat's riveting sound and stage presence create an unforgettable experience for the audience. Comprised of dhol (a double-sided, barrelshaped North Indian drum slung over one shoulder), drum set, percussion, sousaphone and five horns, Red Baraat melds the infectious North Indian rhythms of Bhangra with the sounds of funk, go-go, Latin and jazz. Since their inception in October 2008, Red Baraat has delivered powerful performances at globalFEST, Montreal Jazz Festival, Chicago World Music Festival, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center and the New Orleans Jazz Festival, to name just a few. This FREE outdoor performance begins with a Bollywood Festival  featuring food, activities and dance inspired by the culture of India.

Presented with Student and Educational Services, Student and Community Involvement and University Programming Council.

Frostburg State has implemented a new room scheduling software called EMS to schedule rooms across campus for events and meetings. This new system ushers in several new policy changes. Please review the new policy on room reservations and the new rates for facilities.

Just a quick point of clarification - the log in for this system is not linked to your FSU account. If you have not used this system before, you will have to create an account before you can log into the system. To create an account, please click the "Create an account" link under the "My account" tab at the top of the screen. Mac users will need Parallels installed to access EMS.

For more info, contact: Karen Reidler at 301.687.4048.
