VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Snow ShovelCampus Shoveling Project

Monday
February 22, 2010
Compton Science Center Atrium
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

As many of you have seen, the physical plant staff has spent most of their time for the past two weeks moving snow. With the constant snow and wind that continues to push snow onto already cleared sidewalks it is easy to see that they have been doing an outstanding job working to keep our campus clean and safe. What many of you probably don't know is that many of those staff members removing snow are also electricians, mechanics, cleaning staff,  locksmiths, etc. When there is this much snow, everyone is on duty to help keep the walkways and roads clear. Unfortunately, during the day, these employees have their regular duties to attend to.

That is why this Monday we are asking students, faculty, and staff to pitch in and help out during the day. We will be shoveling areas in the Upper Quad from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Even if you can only help for a short while, please stop by the second floor of Compton and give us a hand. We are supposed to be getting more snow Monday, and although the physical plant will be removing snow in the morning, by the time the afternoon hits, there will be sidewalks and handicap ramps that are back to being covered. Come join us in thanking the physical plant staff for all they do, by helping them out for an afternoon and giving back to the University through service.

Hot Chocolate will be served while supplies last!!!

Brought to you by the Office of Leadership & Civic Engagement and the Department for Disability Support Services.

The musical presentation encompasses a broad range of tunes, from traditional and ballads to pop and classical songs for the Irish and the Irish at heart.

STREBStreb Extreme Action Company: RAW

Wednesday
March 10, 2010
7:30 pm
FSU Performing Arts Center, Drama Theatre
Adults $20, Under 17 $14, FSU Employee $17, FSU Student $3

Is it daredevil stunts? Is it extreme action? Is it dance? It's a combination of all three. "Streb Extreme Action Company is an in-your-face dance experience that combines constant action, daring movement and high energy that will leave the audience reeling and the dancers spinning (sometimes literally on a revolving stage). The brainchild of choreographer Elizabeth Streb, who has been called "the Evel Knieval of Dance," Streb Extreme Action Company's conditioned dancers take audiences on a journey of perpetual motion of constant leaping, bounding and soaring. The stage itself is an action platform amped by a rotating floor of plywood, steel and other common building materials. Audiences will be on the edge of their seats as the never-ending energy on stage wows them over and over again.

"Streb's unique movement art - kin to sport, circus, physics experiment and hard labor - has reached a peak of theatrically and dare-all virtuosity." - Village Voice

Renovating the Lane University Center

Lane in the WinterBending ConduitSnow slows, but renovation continues
Snow slows but does not hinder the renovation of the Lane University Center. With near record snowfall crippling campus for over a week, the progress of the renovation has continued. With rough-ins progressing for the duct work, plumbing, and electric work is continuing nicely with the project. Outside work is on hold until the weather clears so as it warms up look for work on the expansion of the Lane Center to continue.

Below: A construction worker bends conduit during the renovation process.
