Passion for Fashion is Opportunity

If you know someone who loves to design and sew or is an aspiring fashion designer then tell them about Passion For Fashion (PFF). This is not just a contest it's an opportunity to build confidence and make connections. Whether you just want to join the fun and express your talent or you are looking for career advancements this is the event of the year. Read about the experiences of two of the past PFF winners below.

Two Winners Tell Their Stories

Angela Wolf2012

Angela Wolf - winner 2008

Resembling an episode of Project Runway, Passion for Fashion is such a great opportunity to showcase your design and sewing skills. If you like a little challenge and have a talent for fashion design, I highly suggest entering this competition! I was the winner in 2008 and so much has happened in my career because of winning. With the confidence I gained by winning, I expanded my high-end custom apparel business by launching a women's ready-to-wear line and adding a pattern collection for the home sewer called The Angela Wolf Pattern Collection. Because of the connections I made through the contest and the American Sewing Expo I have continued to expand my talent and love for fashion into the sewing industry. I am currently the couture sewing expert on the It's Sew Easy PBS series, sewing instructor and blogger of a monthly fashion and trends report on PatternReview.com, frequent contributor to Threads and Sew Stylish magazines and author of How to Start your Home-based Fashion Business, which will be published by Globe Pequot Press later this year. I can never thank Janet Pray enough for all her advice and guidance!  Watch for Angela's workshops and seminars listed in the upcoming registration brochure.

Joi Mahon2012
Joi Mahon - winner 2009
First, I am so impressed with the American Sewing Expo and how they advance the interest for fashion sewing. As a fashion designer and avid sewist my clients are always telling me to enter design competitions.   Winning was so exciting and opened up so many opportunities for my skills, designs and ideas to be presented to many facets of the sewing and design community. While I have always had more ideas then I know what to do with, it has been a great vehicle to further my passion for sewing and excite others. Of course you have the honor of saying you are the winner, but being able to talk about the competition and inspire other sewers is so rewarding. Through PFF I had the opportunity to work with Baby Lock at several events and eventually developed a design program called Baby Lock Love of Fashion. Although I still create one of a kind designs in my studio for clients all around the country, I now have the honor of traveling around the country representing Baby Lock and teaching fashion design programs and have even more opportunities to inspire others to sew and design. So a HUGE thanks to ASE and Baby Lock for supporting PFF and for seeing my vision of where fashion sewing is going and believing in all my ideas. Joi has just finished filming an episode for the Sew It All, TV series and you will see her articles in Sew News and other sewing related publications. Watch for Joi's workshops and seminars listed in the upcoming registration brochure.
