Durham, N.C. - The Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) state-of-the-art T riangle Park facility, which study's indoor air quality, has been under fire from employees claiming that the building is making them so sick that they have to work outside the building. WRAL News Investigated, asking questions about work-related illnesses in the workplace and discovered that for more than seven years, dozens of EPA employees have been complaining of "having hard time breathing, throat problems and eyes watering." The WRAL News report quoted Silvia Saracco, the union president for many of the EPA employees in RTP. "They want to come to work. They want to do their jobs, but their health is being negatively affected". Saracco said. Read more about the EPA building IAQ concerns here.
This story and thousands more are reported every day with little or no resolution in sight as a result of either lack of response by management to occupant complaints or ineffective IAQ studies not identifying the potential microscopic causes of Building Related Illness (BRI).
