Azalea Watch 2012

Azalea Watch 2012
Bellingrath is gearing up for the Annual Azalea Bloom Out! The over 250,000 azaleas will be bursting with blooms. Although typically our azaleas are at their best in mid to late March; this year they are going to be a little early. We think the first two weeks are going to be the best chance to see the blooms in all the beautiful shades of pink, white and purple.  Keep in mind however that heavy downpours can shorten the length of the bloom out so keep an eye out for wet weather.

Check out Azalea Watch 2012 on the Bellingrath website (www.bellingrath.org) daily to see the progression of the azalea display.

Festival of Flowers - Volunteer Opportunity
FOF 2012 March 29 to April 1, 2012

The 2012 Festival of Flowers  is excited to offer members of the public an unique opportunity to volunteer to be a part of a world class floral event: an attraction called a floral carpet. The festival designers will be creating a foot ball field sized carpet of flowers laid out in geometric shapes. The concept is borrowed from a similar event in Brussels, Belgium.

Volunteers are needed Monday the 26th of March through Wednesday the 28th of March at 9:00 a.m. gardening attire, hats and sunscreen are recommended. We will be placing the flowers from the truck into the main tent to create the floral carpet.
