Magic Christmas in Lights will open for the 14th season at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009. This display will feature over 3 million lights with over 900 custom made set pieces in the 12 scenes that fill the Gardens. New this year is a beautiful multi-tiered fountain that will appear to cascade into Mirror Lake as well as 25 new pieces that have been added to The Underwater Garden.
All of the seasonal favorites are returning this year. Guests will see Butterflies in Flight, Over the Rainbow, Peace on Earth, the Emerald Forest, Toyland, Candyland, Critter Cove, the Flower Walk, the Nativity, Lotus Land, Twas' the Night Before Christmas and The Underwater Garden.
Visitors will not want to miss Bellingrath Museum Home as part of their tour. It has also been wonderfully decorated for the season. Tours are available daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
MCIL opens the Friday after Thanksgiving and runs through New Year's Eve. The Gardens are closed on Christmas Day. Normal operating hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm are extended until 9:00 pm. Admission is $11 for adults, $6 for children 5 - 12 and children under 5 are free.
Bellingrath's Magnolia Café is open each day from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm for lunch and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm for dinner. Dinner menus feature holiday and seafood favorites such as turkey and dressing, fried shrimp and seafood gumbo.
