Job Fair at the Racine Marriott

The Racine County Workforce Development Center will be hosting a Job Fair at the Racine Marriott on Tuesday March 20th from 1 pm to 5 pm. This event will be offered to employers at a cost of $100.00 for a booth. Our last job fair generated almost 500 participants, following a Career Fair that generated closer to 1,000 participants. This event will connect employers with an array of job seekers with skills applicable to industries such as manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, sales, and more. Talkin' 'Bout My Generation - Strategies for Addressing Generational Differences

At a time when productivity and team work are more critical than ever to our community's success, everyone in Racine must learn how to effectively address inter-generational issues and capitalize on generational strengths.  This event will be viewed at 3 different locations, CATI, Wingspread, & Gateway-Racine.  Join fellow professionals and community members to participate in this hybrid event.  No matter the location, each site will view a dynamic, fun and savvy presentation.  Following the presentation, all of the attendees will participate in a multi-site, interactive question and answer session with the presenters. This event is at no cost to participants but registration is required, only 2 sites left with capacity!

On-The-Job Training Opportunity for Manufacturers

Through a Department of Labor grant of $4.9M, the TIME project will provide over 550 On-the-Job Training opportunities to manufacturing companies for new-hires through November 2015 by reimbursing a portion of the employee's salary during a clearly defined training period.  Reimbursement rates for your organization are based on the company size:

< 50 workers = 90%
51 - 250 workers = 75%
> 251 workers = 50%

Career Connect & Inspire Wisconsin join forces

In our last newsletter, we told you about the Career Connect initiative and how it will support career readiness for Racine County's middle and high school students.  Today, we're here to tell you that Career Connect is open for business and ready for you!  We've joined forces with Inspire Wisconsin, a statewide initiative, and have begun signing up employers and career coaches.

Career Connect provides a single point of contact for students seeking work-based learning opportunities and the employers who provide those opportunities.  It is a tactic to meet Challenge One of the Higher Expectations strategy for workforce development.

If you're interested in providing career exploration opportunities for Racine County's students - or if you're already doing it - please get in touch with John Siegert at John.Siegert@goracine.org.

Work Experience and Trial Jobs Save Racine Employers

"The Work Experience Program has helped Transitional Living Services to reduce the cost of hiring employees for janitorial programs and has allowed Transitional Living Services to give back to the community by giving opportunities for vocational education and future employment."

-Peggy McBain, Transitional Living Services
