"Teaching Style Tips"

As we present the understanding of different teaching/learning styles through our workshop, "Teaching the Styles", we look at differentiated instruction. Students are motivated and engage in learning through different modes of presentation of curriculum. They also re-engage when they are provided "choices" to reflect back what they learned.

We love to share with educators ideas on what differentiated instruction "looks like".

Here is an additional idea, enjoy!

Homework Options
From: Sue Lappin, MAMSE Board of Directors

Instead of designing a single homework activity, provide three options that require similar understanding of the material, and permit students to choose from them. To compare versions of the story of Cinderella, for example, students might:

   document similarities and differences in a Venn diagram;

   write a review that describes why one version is more effective than the other; or

   design a book jacket for each story that highlights its features.

For more involved at-home projects, create a chart of varied activities that allow students to show mastery while exercising their creativity.

For more information on the "Teaching the Styles" (Differentiated Instruction) workshop, call Mark or Karen at 734-547-8502. This fun and informative workshop is sure to being new insights and ideas as to why and how different students learn. Understand your predominate teaching style and learn to adapt lessons to ALL styles of learners.
Much Success,
