Stewardship 2013:
A Celebration of Generosity
"Stewardship 2013: A Celebration of Generosity" is this year's stewardship theme. Please read an updated letter here from Bobsie Swift, on behalf of the Stewardship Committee.
Each week in the bulletin and Spiritual Adventures, until the Ingathering on Oct. 21, we will feature various ministries of the parish.
In addition, our cottage meetings, which wrapped up this week, have been a fun way to connect, and re-connect, with fellow parishioners.
Thank you to all the hosts! |

Search committee named;
commissioning last Sunday
Fellow Parishioners,
I am pleased to make the announcement of the committee that will help our congregation find the Rector called to serve us in our next era. The Vestry met twice last week, prayed, and ultimately selected a cross-section of St. Thomas--a group of whom we can all be proud.
The chairman of the Search Committee will be Michael Ankerich. The members, in alphabetical order, are: Nicole Ceccato, Kathy France, Alex Gafford, Lynne Hahn, Jay Howell, Joe Mills, Robert Moore, Perrin Nicolson, Malinda Shamburger, Kristie Sholtis, Tom Wade, and Mary Jane Wadkins. These persons represent the broad ministries and interests of the congregation, and they bring to this task a great devotion to the welfare of the Church.
In the time leading up to the selection of this body, a number of parishioners approached the Vestry and volunteered to serve. I want to make a point of thanking everyone who offered to make such an unselfish commitment. The Vestry took note of all candidates, and collectively made our fairest effort to select a balanced, strong set of leaders.
Please share my gratitude to the Search Committee and give them support in the coming year.
Thanks be to God,
David Brandenburgh, Sr. Warden
Committee members who were present at the 10:30 service Oct. 7 were commissioned for this important work. |

More donations sought Additional funds are needed, as soon as possible, for a bishop's ring for Fr. Doug. If a bishop is elected from a parish, it's traditional the parish funds an item the bishop will wear. The above ring is a replica of one Fr. Doug will have as bishop of the Diocese of Lexington. The custom-made ring needs to be ordered before his ordination in December. The church office is accepting donations, and you may also give through the Sunday offering. (In writing a check, write "Hahn gift" in the memo line.) |

St. Thomas members shoot the rapids, live
Four brave St. Thomas members (from left, Dr. Max Burr, Kristie Sholtis, Sherry Wade and Ann Burr) lived to tell about their adventurous day last Thursday as they rafted part of the Chattahoochee River. The new whitewater project is slated to open to the public next summer. Many groups have been given a sneak-peak run. Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson also rafted last Thursday. |
Dedication of flowers
All Saints Sunday is Nov. 4, and everyone has the opportunity to remember or honor someone with the gift of flowers. The cost is $25 per dedication.
If you are making a dedication, the office needs the following information: (1) Who the dedication is for; (2) whether it is made in honor or in memory; and (3) who the dedication is from.
Dedications need to be given no later than Nov. 1. |
October: St. Thomas' month for WNN
October is the designated month for St. Thomas to donate food to the Wynnton Neighborhood Network. WNN is a multi-religious ministry that operates the food bank and outreach center for those in need in the Wynnton area of Columbus. Each month, local congregations take turns supporting WNN with their donations.
