Bluegrass & BBQ Fundraiser for
St. Thomas Choir
Buy tickets now for BLUEGRASS & BBQ with Debbie Anderson and the Pritchett Family, to be held THIS SUNDAY, April 15, at 5:00 pm, in All Saints' Hall.
Your ticket includes a delicious BBQ dinner catered by Country's Barbecue, a professional-quality bluegrass performance, and a silent auction featuring more than $20,000 in items. All proceeds benefit the St. Thomas Choir, to defay the expenses of its trip to St. John the Divine in New York City, where the Choir will be performing for Pentecost. You may purchase tickets at $25 each from any Choir member, or contact Choir Director Rick McKnight at 706-575-8900 or rick@kiddieshoppe.com. Only 200 tickets will be sold!!!
Please note that this is an adults-only event. Adult beverages will be served. Nursery care will NOT be offered.

Sunday Breakfast Moved to Outreach Center on April 15
Due to the BLUEGRASS AND BBQ event that will be held in All Saints' Hall on April 15, our regular Sunday breakfast will be served in the Outreach Center on this date. Thank you for your understanding of this temporary situation. |

Congratulations on the Engagement of
Fr. Darius Sudayi and Anna Jonas !
We are happy to pass on the news that Fr. Darius Sudayi is engaged. He is marrying Anna Jonas of Dodoma, after a seven-year courtship. Anna is an accountant with the Dodoma Christian Medical Center. Bishops Mdimi Mhogolo and Neal Alexander will be officiating the wedding on July 21, 2012.
Some have asked if there is a way to give wedding gifts. Yes, the church will receive any funds for gifts and make sure they are forwarded to Darius and Anna.
Congratulations to them both, and our thoughts and prayers are with them for a happy and blessed life together.

Valley Interfaith Promise (VIP)

Guardian Angel Program
Dear St. Thomas Family,
We are all tasked to bless and care for the children in our parish. With that in mind, we all have an opportunity to show that blessing in a special way--through participating in the Guardian Angel Program. Beginning April 22th, you, the parishioners, will get to show the children (preK - 5th grade) your love, prayers, and blessings in an anonymous way: through cards, small "goodies" left for them, written notes, and prayers sent to them, any way that you would like to show your love and blessing. Then on May 20th, Pentecost, you will have the chance to meet at breakfast and reveal your identity to "your" child. I hope that you will find this to be a blessing to you as much as it will to the child you care for during this time.
The program works in the following way:
+ Please respond to this message and let me know if you would like to participate. If you would like to select a child, please include their name in the email. If you want me to select a child, please indicate that.
+ From April 22nd until May 20th, the contact with the child you choose is up to you, but your identity needs to be kept a secret, so it's like a "secret Santa" or "secret pal".... It is requested that if any money is spent on the child, that it be kept to a minimum, as the main purpose is for a child to feel love in simple, special ways from others: cards and notes, handmade tokens of care and love.
Question: What happens if more than one person picks a child?
Answer: If a child's name has already been selected then I can provide suggestions to choose from or I can assign you one.
Question: What age is too young for this program?
Answer: There is no child too young to receive love and blessings from parishioners.
Question: What happens if I will be away on May 20th when the special "day of meeting" happens?
Answer: If you will contact me in advance, and have something for the child that day, then the parents can explain who their "secret blesser" was and you can call the child and meet him/her during the next week.

Vacation Bible School 2012
Registration forms are now available for Vacation Bible School 2012, to be held on June 18-22, from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm daily. The theme this year is "Wade in the Water", in which children will "dive into" our Faith and Scripture! This week-long theme will include Bible stories such as Noah's Ark, Jonah and the Whale, Jesus Walks on Water, the Woman at the Well, and will also include teachings about Baptism. Friends of Finley Commission Honorarium
A group calling itself "Friends of Finley" has been formed to create an honorarium for Finley Williamson's innumerable contributions to St. Thomas. This group has approached the church, and received the blessings of the Property Committee and the Vestry. The honorarium will be a mission-style oak server (pictured), designed and built by artisan Rick Garner. Mr. Garner is asking a discounted price of $5000. To contribute to this project, please make your check payable to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, with the memo "Friends of Finley" written in the memo line of your check. Our goal is to have the project completed by Finley's birthday on June 10. Please note that this is not a gift TO Finley, but it is a gift to St. Thomas Episcopal Church IN HONOR OF Finley. It will be enjoyed by all parishioners for many years to come. Thank you.
