T&T

+ GUEST PREACHER The Rev. Canon Rick Callaway will visit us this Sunday. Canon Callaway is Canon to the Ordinary and Transitions Officer of the Diocese of Atlanta. He manages various responsibilities for the Diocese, including the deployment of priests.

+ MUSIC this Sunday will feature some great hymns: "Crown him with many crowns" and "Lead on, O King eternal". The St. Thomas Choir will sing Haydn's "Gloria et honore", and the St. Thomas Ringers will play "Come, ye sinners, poor and needy". A men's quartet led by Cameron Bean will sing "I'll Carry You."

+ ADULT FORUM will feature The Rev. Canon Rick Callaway, presenting a brief review of the proceedings of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta's Annual Council, which took place on November 4-5. St. Thomas delegates who attended Council will assist Canon Callaway in this presentation. Adult Forum meets every Sunday at 9:15 a.m. in the Library.

+ TIME & TALENT LUNCHEON will shine a spotlight on St. Thomas volunteer opportunities over lunch. Some of our current volunteers will give brief testimony, and offer opportunities for you to share your time and talent. Many aspects of our parish life will be represented, including worship, education & outreach, social & fellowship ministries, and church operations. This event will be time-limited and family-friendly. Children are encouraged to eat lunch with their parents. No nursery care will be provided beyond what is usual on Sundays. Please RSVP to the church office by November 18.

Integrity Field Trip to Warm Springs on Saturday, November 19LGBT Integrity

Integrity's regularly scheduled November meeting (which would have been Friday, November 18) has been cancelled... Instead, we will be going on a FIELD TRIP! We have planned a caravan to Warm Springs, GA, for the Candlelight Christmas Celebration. The trip will be on Saturday, November 19. Please meet in the parking lot at St. Thomas on Saturday, November 19, at 6:00 pm. Plan for an hour's drive up to Warm Springs, then two and a half hours in Warm Springs, and return arrival to St. Thomas' parking lot at about 10:30 pm. Those drivers with large cars, SUVs, and vans (vehicles seating four people or more) are asked to assist in transportation. This field trip is open to all who wish to join in on the fun!

"Preparing the Way" - Episcokids' Advent Workshop on Sunday, November 27

Time: 12:30 - 2:30pm

Location: St. Thomas Episcopal Church

Hosted by: Erin Redden

More Info: Episcokids, young and young at heart, gather to create traditional Advent crafts. Advent wreaths, candles, crèches, and chains are ways for our children to prepare for the coming of Jesus and the celebration of Christmas. We will gather in All Saints' Hall following the 10:30 worship service, and lunch will be provided. This is a great time for parents to do some Christmas shopping! We are also looking for youth to assist at creation stations.

Vestry Elections to Occur on Sunday, December 11Vestry

The Vestry is the governing board of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. It contains nine members fulfilling staggered three-year terms in office, which means that three members leave the Vestry each year, allowing us to elect three new members each year. You are eligible to run for election to the Vestry if you are a confirmed member of St. Thomas, and if you made and fulfilled a pledge in 2011.

For those who are interested in running for election, information sessions will be held on two occasions. The first will be on Sunday, November 27, during the Sunday school hour in the Parlor; the second will be on Wednesday, November 30, at 6:30 pm in the Parlor. These sessions are intended to answer questions of those who are interested in running for Vestry, and to explain what the Vestry is and what it does.

Trimming the Tree on Wednesday, December 21Holly Sprig

Time: 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Location: St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Nave

Hosted by: Erin Redden

More Info: Parishioners, friends, and family of all ages are invited to trim the Christmas tree in the Nave. Cookies, coffee, and warm cider will add to the good cheer. You don't have to be an interior decorator to help. It's such a large task that every pair of hands is welcome. This year we will be decorating the tree with fresh fruit as we have done in years past. We will need lots of commitment to make this a reality. Thank you!

Group Subscribers Get Lower Price for the Episcopal JournalEJ

Some parishioners have expressed interest in subscribing to the Episcopal Journal, which took the place of Episcopal Life when it ceased publication. If we can find 10 households to subscribe, then we achieve 50% savings. The half-price rate is $22.50 for one year. We have six subscribers signed up so far, and we need four more. If you are interested, please contact Rick McKnight. For more information about the Episcopal Journal, visit http://www.episcopaljournal.org/.
