A Letter from Fr. Hahn
Dear St. Thomas Friends,
Grace and Peace in the Name of the Risen Lord Jesus!
I give thanks to God and to all of you for your continued prayers, notes, and words of encouragement about my health. These have been invaluable to Kaye and me in this time of discerning and deciding upon my treatment for prostate cancer.
After much consultation with physicians, many conversations with old and new friends and colleagues, and much prayer, I am letting you know that I will have surgery on November 11 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta. This will be robotically assisted laparoscopic surgery, and though this sounds exotic, it is one of the most common treatments for early stage prostate cancer. My doctors reassure me that this is very treatable, and that in the vast majority of cases surgery completes the treatment - no radiation or chemotherapy are required. They and I are optimistic of a full and swift recovery.
I anticipate being away four Sundays, returning on December 11. During my absence you will be in the able care of Mother Lorna Erixson. Canon Richard Callaway, of the Diocese of Atlanta will be with us on November 20, bringing the concerns of our wider community. The staff and Vestry will continue the work they do so well. You will be in good hands.
Thank you again for your continued thoughts and prayers for me and my family.
Grace and Peace, Fr. Douglas Hahn |
