Vacation Bible School is June 6-10 at St. Thomas. This year's theme is Abundant Life Garden. The mission of this VBS program is to learn about how water, seeds, soil, animals, and the harvest all come together to transform our world. Join us at St. Thomas VBS to sing, share, and grow! Get Ready for National Barefoot Sunday (June 5th)  and VBS at St. Thomas Episcopal Church!

Dates of Event: Sunday, June 5th - Sunday, June 12th

Our church and Vacation Bible School program have partnered with Soles4Souls to help collect new and gently worn shoes to deliver to the over 300 million children and untold adults without shoes around the world! Join us, and take off your shoes! And as part of this powerful movement, clean out your closets and bring the shoes to donate!

Soles4Souls accepts all types of new and gently worn shoes including: athletic, running, dress, sandals, pumps, heels, work boots, cleats, dance, and flip flops. Please also consider donating $1.00 to help with the shipping costs of the shoes.

About Soles4Souls: This organization collects new and gently worn shoes from the closets of people like you, and distributes them free of charge to people in need all over the world. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away more than 8 million pairs of shoes and protected countless individuals from injury, disease, and indignity. Currently, the organization gives away a pair of shoes every nine seconds. Visit www.giveshoes.org to learn more about Soles4Souls.

Summer Choir, and Other News from the Music DepartmentCross

+ This Sunday is the Last Sunday of Easter, and the Sunday after the Ascension. We will enjoy a performance by Choral Scholar Dreci Thomas, singing "Jesu, the very thought of thee" by Samuel Sebastian Wesley.

+ SUMMER CHOIR BEGINS THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 5. St. Thomas Choir is off for the summer months, but that doesn't mean we can't or won't have music. Do you like to sing? Would you like to see a very different perspective from the choir loft? Join us for SUMMER CHOIR at 9:50 a.m. on summer Sunday mornings. Come to the Choir Room, located behind the altar, the farthest left rear room in the church. It is identified with a sign that says "Choir Room." We'll use 30 minutes to rehearse the hymns, with the goal of providing musical leadership for the service. If we have enough participants, we may even sing a simple anthem. All participants are welcome: young, old, family, friends, or visitors. I guarantee you will enjoy the experience. I hope to see many of you beginning Sunday, June 5!

+ The Music Department is taking requests! Like to sing your favorite hymn? Contact me and I'll work it in this summer. Just e-mail me at music@stthomascolumbus.org.

Composer Dedicates New Music to St. Thomas ChoirProfessor Wilby

St. Thomas Choir has a personal relationship with the British composer Philip Wilby (pictured). When the Choir toured England in 2009, Prof. Wilby hosted a workshop for the Choir, and conducted his music at Evensong. Since that time, we have commissioned his "Prayer of St. Thomas" (text from the Collect for St. Thomas' Day), and "Vox Christi" (based on the Great Commandment). "Vox Christi" has been published by the Royal School of Church Music, and has just been recorded by the Choir of Wells Cathedral and featured on BBC Radio 3. Click here, then scroll down slightly to listen to the mp3. St. Thomas Choir will perform the U.S. premiere of "Vox Christi" in the fall.
