Kids4Peace
Kids4Peace is an international program which brings together a select group of young people from the United States, Israel, and Palestine - Christian, Jewish, and Muslim - to live together for three weeks in an experience of peace and mutual understanding. The program is cosponsored by the Diocese of Atlanta. Last year Lauren Ford was part of Kids4Peace; this year we are proud of Zach Grantham, who has been selected in our diocese. The Vestry has agreed to assist Zach with the program's tuition; they also want to give you an opportunity to help. You may make contributions to the parish, designated Kids4Peace. Episcopal Relief for Japan

Episcopal Relief & Development is sending support to the Nippon Sei Ko Kei (the Anglican Communion in Japan) to help with its initial emergency relief efforts in response to the 9.0-magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami that struck Japan March 11. "We are standing by the church in Japan during this difficult time," said Nagulan Nesiah, program officer for Episcopal Relief & Development. "As you can imagine, the needs are overwhelming, and it will take time to assess the best ways to support the church and Japan as they move toward recovery." Attend Sunday Forum, and More!

Sunday Forum (9:15 a.m.) - We continue our conversation about Biblical Models of Discipleship. On Sunday, April 3, our forum topic will be "Discipleship in the Gospel of John", and parishioner Thomas Gilbert will facilitate.
Wednesday Adult Study (6:30 p.m.) - Our series continues, Heroes of Faith, based on Krista Tippet's Public Radio Show, On Being. This class involves brief excerpts of interviews with spiritual heroes or leaders, and discussion among the class. Next Wednesday, April 6, the spiritual hero topic will be "Brother Thây: A Radio Pilgrimage with Thich Nhat Hanh", Buddist Monk and peace activist. Learn more about Krista Tippet or her show at www.being.publicradio.org.

How Can You Contribute to a
Beautiful Easter Sunday?

As we approach the Easter season, we would like to remind our parishioners that our flower budget is funded 100% by donations. The Flower Guild has plans to make our Easter flowers very special. You can make a special Easter dedication in memory or in honor of a loved one or friend for a suggested $25 donation which will be listed in the order of service on Easter Day. Please call, mail, or e-mail your dedication to the church office. There are also envelopes available in the pews that can be dropped in the offering plate. The deadline to receive donations for Easter is April 19, and any amount is appreciated.
Although we buy at wholesale, prices are quite high for flowers. The Flower Guild continues to be good stewards of your donations by caring for and reusing flowers around the church whenever this is feasible. We appreciate your help in making it a glorious Easter season. Thank you!

Donate Candy for Children's Easter Egg Hunt!
As we prayerfully enter into Lent, we are also looking ahead to celebrate Easter morning, which is on April 24 this year. Traditionally, on that morning, we invite the children of the parish and their families to participate in an Easter Egg Hunt during the Sunday School hour. For each child participating, we like to have at least a dozen eggs stuffed with pre-wrapped candy by Sunday, April 17. Bins for these will be located in All Saints' Hall or in the Christian Education Office. We have lots of empty eggs from last year, so if church members would like to donate pre-wrapped candy, it would be greatly appreciated!

A Note of Special Thanks

Thank you to Art and Kathy France for their donation to the African Mission Fund in honor of Sandy McCann's birthday.
Thank you to all who have donated during the month of March to Episcopal Relief & Development, Wynnton Neighborhood Network, and Kids 4 Peace. So far we have collected $135 for ERD, $290 for WNN (in additions to many bags of food), and $140 for Zach Grantham's tuition to Kids 4 Peace. Your generosity is sincerely appreciated. We will continue to accept donations to these causes throughout Lent.
We also thank those who donate to specific funds on a regular basis, especially Dennis and Karen Cook, and Charles and Carlene Pawlowicz.

Get Connected: We Are Up-dating Our Directory!

St. Thomas is up-dating our parish directory! We need your submissions of the following:

#3: Digital photos
We are compiling this information for both our printed directory and our online, pictorial directory (located at http://www.stthomascolumbus.org/home.html). Our directories are a valuable form of social networking among our parishioners, like many forms of social networking you already enjoy at home or on your computer. For example, for a quick and easy digital photo submission, just send us your Facebook profile pic! Thank you! | |
