Episcopal Relief for Japan

Episcopal Relief & Development is sending support to the Nippon Sei Ko Kei (the Anglican Communion in Japan) to help with its initial emergency relief efforts in response to the 9.0-magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami that struck Japan March 11. "We are standing by the church in Japan during this difficult time," said Nagulan Nesiah, program officer for Episcopal Relief & Development. "As you can imagine, the needs are overwhelming, and it will take time to assess the best ways to support the church and Japan as they move toward recovery." Join the St. Thomas Readers!
The St. Thomas Readers Book Discussion Group will meet in the Parlor on Tuesday, March 29, at 5:30 p.m. This month we will be discussing The Poet of Tolstoy Park by Sonny Brewer, a novel based on the life of professor and philosopher Henry Stuart. His inspiring story is a good read for Lent, or for any time. At the time of this writing, we are attempting to arrange a conference call with the author (an Episcopalian) who has strong connections to the real life Henry Stuart. The Poet of Tolstoy Park is available in local book stores, through online outlets, and at the Columbus Public Library (cassette, CD, or print). For further information about the March discussion or about the book group, contact Sonya Boyd at 706-563-6161 or janjulau@aol.com. All are welcome!
