EXQUISITE ASIAN CERAMICSBlue Ceramic Pot

Asian ceramics such as this lovely cobalt blue pot make excellent year-round outdoor planters.  Not all ceramic pots are made the same, however, and some of them are not able to withstand temperatures below freezing.  It all depends on the firing process and the type of clay used.  Check with your supplier before purchasing. The exciting array of glaze colors and styles make ceramic pots one of my favorite choices for a splash of color or a dramatic focal point in the garden.  There are some beautiful multi-colored and crackle glazes available and effects such as a subtle tiger-striping or dimpled urn go a long way in creating something that is at once stylish and durable.
FIBERGLASS GOES MODERN

Fiberglass CylinderFiberglass-concrete blends come in a wide array of modern geometric-looking shapes.  Fiberglass is very durable and lightweight, while the addition of concrete adds a stone-like character and substance to the outer appearance of the planter.

These pots work best in groupings of three or more to create a contemporary feel in any landscape.  I like fiberglass blends better than metal planters because they have that ultra-hip, ultra-modern feel, but they are much longer lasting and won't tend to rust or warp like some of the metal counterparts available on the market right now.

These illuminated pots are a nifty idea for anyone who doesn't want the expense of a full-fledged outdoor lighting system.  They have a very modern feel to them as well and are made of durable double-walled plastic.  Light up your roof or terrace in style this year with a minimum of effort.

Red Lacquer Pots
 
These red-lacquered, tapered fiberglass planters are a no-brainer for anyone planning a glamorous looking Asian garden this year.  Imagine these filled with bamboo, a Japanese maple, and perhaps a cherry tree or three.

The fiberglass is very durable and the shiny lacquered glaze effect is a real show stopper.
