Dear Patrons,
I am sending out a challenge to you all to kindly donate your Canadian Tire Money that you have at home that is lying around.
My goal is to collect up to $500.00 in Canadian Tire Money for Christmas time, we can use it to purchase toys for our Christmas Toy Drive.

Hello everyone!
Well May was an awesome month at Club 717 with a successful Member Appreciation Wine and Cheese Event, the initiation of a patron focussed contest (Dash for Cash sponsored by Movie Experts, Bowmanville), a well attended Youth Talent Contest and the Ms./Mr. Trillium Competition sponsored by Ticot. All of this occurred in addition to our regular and very entertaining drag shows! We assure you that June's events promise to heat things up even more at Club 717.
The very beginning of June will see the finale of the Youth Talent Competition with the winner of that competition going on to be the Youth Grand Marshall at this year's Pride Durham Parade. Following quickly on the heels of this will be Pride Durham's OFFICIAL kick off party at Club 717! We have a very exciting show planned and are expecting an awesome turnout! Pride Week in Durham begins June 4 and continues on until June 10. As the time approaches, it is important to reflect upon the many things that make us proud both as individuals and as a community and to find what it is we all have in common--the need for acceptance and love. Pride festivals are about coming together and celebrating all that makes us who we are. They are about unity, diversity, equality, understanding and love. We invite each and every one of our members to show their support for as many sanctioned Pride Week festivities as possible and to support the meaning and purpose of Pride!
Along with some awesome drag shows in June, ALOFT Vaughan Mills proudly presents WICKER live at Club 717 on Saturday, June 16, 2012!! WICKER is an LA based electro-indie-dance band who have opened for LMFAO. This will, in all likelihood, be a sold out event so stay tuned to our website and eblasts as their performance date approaches.
The weather is exquisite and everything is in bloom...what better time to come together in celebration and with pride in who we are! Happy June everyone!!! I hope that this newsletter sees each of you happy, healthy and feeling blessed!

| Membership Report |  Join Club 717 in celebrating its 25th anniversary!
Dear Club 717 Patrons & Members,
As you know Club 717 Board of Directors is appointed on a yearly basis through its members. As for February 1st, 2012 if you are renewing or a new member then it is $50.00 for a membership or you can purchase one at a prorated amount starting in June 2012.
Many members question what are the benefits of becoming a member of Club 717? Here are the benefits;
1) You don't have to pay a cover charge of $5.00 every Friday night
2) You don't have to pay a cover charge of $5.00 when Club 717 (this does not include the monthly AIDS Committee dances) holds a special Saturday night event. Unless specified on the poster!
3) You have 5 guest passes which you can use to allow your friends to enter without paying a cover charge.
4) Your New Years Eve Tickets are cheaper.
5) You have the opportunity to attend our quarterly General Membership Meetings & our yearly Annual General Membership Meeting.
6) You can become a staff of Club 717 (you need to have your smart serve)
7) You get a 10% discount when you purchase any items from "Naughty but Nice" in Oshawa.

Wicker has opened for LMFAO and is doing a special show for Club 717. Members of WICKER have been on MTV;s hit series: The Hills and E! Networks "Pretty Wild", they have very familiar faces. And as you know WICKER band was inquired from MTV Music group last year, and this reality series will be following their Canadian journey. We also have a 1 page spread coming out in the fall of 2012 with Hollywood Weekly magazine a well known print publication and will have a photographer also attending their performance at your event.
Their music genre is club-dance and they have created their own genre called (Electro-Inde-Hop). You can view one of their performances here:

Hi All
Summer is here and of course with it's arrival we also have our various Pride events. I am pleased to report that due to the 4 yard sales that Jean Guy had held, we have a Jubilee fund established which had contributed to our float for our local Pride and also Toronto Pride. Ever bit helps. Many thanks to those that donated items for the yard sales and to Jean Guy.
Also, take note of the next one which is Saturday June 23rd and Sunday June 24th. We have also sold a number of pro rated memberships which is a great sign.
I hope everyone has many plans for the summer but don't forget that we still have exciting line ups planned for you at the Club.
Looking forward to seeing you all as we celebrate our 25th year!!

A message from Chardonnay DuBarry
Dear Friends,
I would like to thank you all for your love and support in my running for the title of Miss Trillium 2012. It was a hard competition and I had a blast doing it. I would like congratulate Bunni Lapin and Greg Glasman as the new Mr. & Miss Trillium 2012.
I am very proud of myself as I was 1st runner up and I brought all that I had in my performance. Winning is not everything in life and this will not stop me to do my walk in memory of my friend, to collect Canadian Tire Money, to assist with the Jubilee events, represent Club 717 on the Board of Directors of the INSPIRED Awards Corp and mostly my work with Pride Durham Inc.
Thank you to Josh Justin Rooney for making me beautiful (I think Home Depot ran out of the quick dry cement that day...lol!), thank you Ivy, David Moorhouse, Richard Twigg and Gordon Dick for being there for me, cheering me on and giving me that amazing support that you always given to me. Thank you Danny Caudle, John and Ed for some encouraging messages via text the next day, it was amazing advice and truly made me see how much I am important to my friends.
I would like to let you all know that to date we have collected $11.95 in Canadian Tire Money. This leaves us with $488.05 left to collect in a period of 6 months. I am sending out a challenge to you all too kindly donate your Canadian Tire Money that you have at home that is lying around. Hello friends. As a longtime supporter of Club 717, I am asking for your support in a vital issue that could affect hundreds of thousands of Canadians who frequent their local video rental stores like mine. The Walt Disney Company doesn't want your local video store to rent their movies during the first 28 days of release so you will have to buy them instead. This will limit consumers' access to their movies and force you to pay more to buy them which some consumers simply can't afford. We're fighting back against Disney's efforts to undermine our business because other studios will likely follow Disney in trying to impose this limitation if we don't stop Disney. I hope you visit your local video store and sign the in-store petition or go to www.boycottdisney.ca and sign the online petition. This is vitally important to the future of your local video rental store and the employees who work there.

Contest Rules
- Every patron will be given a Movie Experts Da$h For Ca$h draw ticket when they enter the club beginning Friday, April 13th and every Friday for the following 15 weeks.
- The first draw for $100 will be held Friday, April 20th at a random time during the evening.
- The holder of the winning ticket will have 60 seconds to Da$h to the stage to claim their Ca$h!
- If the winner is not present, the $100 prize will carry over to the following Friday.
- Each week the prize is not claimed, the cash carries over to the following Friday and the Jackpot grows until it is won.
- Once a jackpot is won, the prize reverts back to $100 on the following Friday.
- A maximum of $1,500 will be awarded, at which time the contest will end.
- Tickets are not transferable.
- Members of the DAASC Board of Directors, Club 717 staff and staff of Movie Experts - Bowmanville are not elgible.
- Volunteer staff and performers are not eligble to receive draw tickets on the evening that they are working.
So here is a great way for patrons of Club 717 to win some easy cash!

There is one thing that we all think that we should not have to do, but we need to do it! If any of you have carpet in your home, apartment or condo this is the perfect time to go to your local Metro store and rent a Rug Doctor. They let you rent it for 24 hours and the cost is $27.97 + a $10.00 deposit. It gives your carpet a new look and a fresh and good cleaning. You would be surprised of how much dirt is trapped in your carpet. I vacuum everyday and I did some of my rooms many times. It was a lot of work, but it makes me feel better knowing that my carpets are now clean. It is also best to rent it over a long weekend because I got it on Sunday and ended up having it an extra free day cause Monday was a holiday, just a hint.
