Urgent Appeal for Assistance !!
Vice President - Club 717

Hello readers.

I have an "urgent" request for ALL members and patrons.

Please consider bringing non persible food donations & leaving them in the labeled box for the Aids Committee of Durham Region (ACDR).

There is need for protein foods e.g. peanut butter, canned goods including meat, fish, vegetables & fruits, soups etc. Also please drop off any plastic bags that you may have. I am sure that most if not all of you are aware of the needs of those lessfortunate members in our society.

The ACDR provides many valuable services & programs and the food bank is only 1 of those. If you would rather make a monetary donation that would be gladly accepted at the office. Thank you for considering this request!

Steve O'Connor
Vice-President Club 717
New Drinks Available

New brews at Club 717 !!

All natural flavours of your favorite fountian dring, Root Beer !! Traditional looks, unmistakeable in flavour, this fountain drink inspired cooler will take you back to the days of drive-in restaurants !!

If you're looking to toss back a few this Summer but don't want to worry about the drive home, you might actually have a decent non-alcoholic alternative to try !!

Labatt has launched a brand new brew, but it won't give drinkers a beer buzz on the patio this summer.
For the first time a large Canadian brewery has used a major brand to launch a non-alcohol beer, as Labatt has taken the wraps off Labatt Blue De-alcoholized Pilsener.
"This meets the needs of the health conscious consumer and it tastes like Labatt Blue,"

M&M Mediation
& Legal Services

Is Mediation for you?
Mediation is a voluntary process and can be terminated at any time.  Here are a few questions to ask yourself to see if mediation is right for you.
1.      Are you willing to keep an open mind and listen to the other persons concerns?
2.     Do you want to have control over the process and develop an agreement that takes into account your interests and needs?
3.     Do you want to avoid the expense of litigation?
4.     Are there issues which are important to you beyond the legal issues?
5.     Are you interested in a more time sensitive way to resolve your dispute?
If you answered yes to most of these questions you are a person who would benefit from resolving your issues through the mediation process.

Remember Mediation should be your first choice not your last resort!

Newsletter Editor - Ed Greetings!

October 31st at 2:00 p.m. is the NEW date for the Club's Annual General Meeting (AGM). Although previously advertised on the 24th, it had to be changed back to it's original date due to logistics.

The club's AGM is one of the most important events the club has. If you, as a paid member only do "ONE THING", this should be it. Plan to attend and make a difference, and if you don't attend then don't just complain when you don't like something !!!

As usual, after all the questions and answers, there will be our elections for the new board. Foremost, I sincerely thank all our past board members for their contributions and scarifies you've made over the past year(s). For you the members, I ask that you now take your role seriously. Your actions will have a long lasting effect on the quality and productivity of the new board.

Please choose your nominations wisely and consider a person's abilities over just friendships. Your nominations will determine if 2011 will be productive or bogged down with politics. Considering someone for re-election? Have you actually been happy with their performance? Did they "ACTUALLY" do what their position asked for? Did they give 110% or just enjoy their title? These are very important questions not just an event to causally attend. Club 717 has huge potential and it's up to you (the membership) to select people that "CAN" work together for a "TEAM" and that you feel, can make it happen !!

On a lighter note; a special Congratulation to one of our Sponsors and regular Article Contributors. Corry "Taking The Lead", recently expanded her business and is featured in Steve's "Out in Durham" column this month.

Guys, mark your calendars for October 16th Men's Night. This is our yearly "BIG" Men's Night Private Party. This year, we've received a major sponsor. Inspired Media and the Pink Pages Directory are sponsoring and taking the event to a whole new level. They are bringing a couple of (HOT, HOT, HOT Guys....sorry). A bartender from Woody's in Toronto and Celebrity Toronto DJ for the evening. It will be a fundraiser in support of the Aids Committee of Durham Region (ACDR) and will be the "summer end party" you don't want to miss. Please note this is a Private Party for the Guys. Please see our website and Facebook pages for the most up to date details.

Lastly, PLEASE remember to visit our sponsors, as their advertisement dollars make this newsletter and interactive website possible !! All our advertisers care about our community and are gay friendly. Show them you care as well by calling them first !!

Don't forget to check out the coupon section at the bottom for offers from our vauled sponsors and member classifieds.

President's message Club 717 President - Dan Caudle

Well Everyone,

The summer has come and gone and we are entering a new season.

It is time again for Club 717's Annual General Meeting, this will be held next month on October 31st at 2:00 p.m.

So I want to start off by saying a great big "Thanks" to everyone for the wonderful run I have had on the Board of Directors.

After much consideration I have decided it is time for me to step aside and allow some fresh blood to come to the plate with some fresh new ideas. The Club is doing ok right now and after a lot of time and effort, I am tired and need to take a break.

I want to wish the incoming Board, whom ever they may be, the Best of Luck and I wish you continued success. It is not an easy job and you cannot always win in the popularity poll, how ever keeping the best interest of the Club and the Community at heart is what will carry you through, and you will be rewarded by knowing you have done your best.

Keep accountability as a priority and financial reporting at the top of your list and you should be respected.

Good Luck to All Candidates

Respectfully Yours
Dan Caudle

Sandra's Health Message:

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year !!

Now that our children are back to school, we should ensure that they are not carrying too heavy a load in their backpacks. Some studies have shown that overloading backpacks may cause back and shoulder pain and poor posture in children.

Features to Look For:

* Lightweight: we don't want to carry any more weight than we have to.
* Wide Padded Straps: they distribute the load over the shoulders and make things more comfortable.
* Padded Back: this makes things more comfy as well. A lumbar support in the padding will also help prevent slouching.
* Separate Compartments:keeps things neat and organized and keeps the load where you placed it.
* Waist Strap: it helps transfer the load to the hips. A strap between the two shoulder straps is a good feature as well as it helps prevent slouching.
* Size: the pack should not be larger than the child's back. Also consider that the more room in the pack the more stuff will fit in it. That's a bad thing.

For more information or to have your child evaluated for any signs of poor posture that can lead to spinal issues, make an appointment with one of our Chiropractic Doctors today.

A Message from the Treasurer Club 717 Treasurer

Hi All

I wanted to include a short note to the membership regarding the financial aspects of the Club.

I have been on the Board for 2 ½  years, and the last two as treasurer. It is a busy, demanding and interesting position. Until I assumed this position, I was in the Club as a patron and never thought about the high costs of keeping it going. We go there to have fun, and never think that the fridges are on 24/7 and the rent is due each month, the inventory is replenished each week, plus all the other monthly invoices.

I do intend to run again in the upcoming elections, for a number of reasons, but mostly because the Club is an integral part of our Community for everyone. It is a place where we can be ourselves. Our Community is growing rapidly, and we have to keep the Club going to provide this "extra home." I am fortunate to have time to devote to assist in making this happen, and thoroughly enjoy helping in all our extra functions throughout the year.

Since I have been coming to the Club in 2004, I have seen the New Year's dance grow to become a "sell-out". Our other dances are always successes, BUT it is only due to the efforts put in by devoted members. Our membership has doubled in the last two years, and most important, our funds have grown and are remaining at a comfortable level.

The Club is now closely associated with other Community activities, which helps to make us a more united "family."

It is important at the AGM that you come out and listen to what the current Board has done, and also if you're interested in a Board position, or want to nominate someone, please do so based on their ability to help the Club continue to be a part of our Community.
Respectively yours,
John Duvall

A Message from King Benn Dover King of Club 717 - Benn Dover

Well, summer has come to an end and the busy season at the Club  is starting up again!

The King/Queen Competition will be here before we know it. Anyone interested in running this year can see Donny (Entertainment Director), Queen Candice or myself.

I have had a great time as King this year.  I have learned a lot about the Club, our members, made some new friends, been involved in a lot of charity events and had an amazing time entertaining the patrons of Club 717!  I hope you all have had as much fun as I have had!  It has been a lot of work but I have been fortunate to have a great team to work with. Anyone who is interested in running, keep in mind that you are not alone.  The King and Queen work together along with the Entertainment Director and a fantastic group of performers to bring you shows every week.  Queen Candice and I will also be there in our new roles as Queen Mum and King Daddy (that just sounds so wrong) to help out where we can.  It is an amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone.  It can be busy at times but as long as you can work together, it can be a successful and rewarding position.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.  I will help out where I can!

Well I am going to make this one short.... busy busy busy!!!  Take care and hope to see you all out at the Club soon!!

With Pride,

King Benn Dover
A message from Queen Candice Queen Candice

Hi Everyone,

It's me again your Queen of Club 717, Candice.

We've had so much fun together, and we've done tons for the club and for the community. You as a family should be very proud of yourselves, because I know I am very proud of you all. I want to apologize for not being there as often as I wanted to be this month. I have been having a couple of medical issues with my body, I was not able to come support our club. However, I've been hearing that the shows are doing well, the audience loves you all, and I'm really hoping everyone enjoys everyone's company. Because if there is any such glue that holds us all together as a fun-filled family, it is happiness, without happiness we wouldn't be having such a great, fun year.

I'm really excited and we're all preparing for the upcoming Pageant. I hope we have a lot of people preparing and getting excited aswell. October is going to be another amazing month I can feel it.

Take care of each other everyone.
Love Queen Candice

Making Cents, Make Sense - by Kristin
 Kristin Parker - Mortgage Specialist
Hello Club 717,

Are you looking to get into your first or second home but find you just don't have enough income to carry the mortgage costs?

Have you been looking for ways to increase your monthly cash flow?  A really good way to do all of the above is to invest in a property with a rental unit.

Some people might shy away at the thought of sharing their home with a possible stranger, but this could be an excellent stepping stone to homeownership or putting more cash into your pocket.  Rental units in owner occupied properties generally take care of the majority, if not all the mortgage payment leaving you with money to spare.  If you're in a situation where your income is not enough to qualify you, a property with an existing tenant and lease agreement can help qualify you for the loan with minimal down payment.

If you or anyone you know has considered or is interested in learning more about this please feel free to contact me... See you next month!

Featured Business:

"Your in the Doghouse"

Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms. Corry Hamilton, the new owner of:

You're In The Doghouse. She took over this 4 year old existing independent business in September 2010. It is located at:

205 King Street East,
Newcastle L1B 1H4.
The phone # is: 905 987-1010.
The store hours are as follows: Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. closed on Sundays.

Corry said she focuses on natural & holistic dog & cat foods, small animal and fish food as well. She is focusing on both local & Canadian companies as suppliers, as well as expanding with raw and homemade food products. The store also has a good variety of items geared to dogs and cats from beds, leashes, toys, grooming supplies etc. This business fits in nicely with her first business Taking the Lead.

Corry is looking forward to this new store growing and fully capturing her beliefs on quality pet care and pet products. There is no website yet however you can contact Corry at: www.takingthelead.ca or info@takingthelead.ca

Soon there will be a new blog. It is going to be doghouse scoop. She has registered both under .com and .ca  She is looking forward to people posting photos of their pets, sharing stories etc. "You're In The Doghouse is 600 square feet of love".

Please take the coupon at the bottom of the newsletter for a 10% discount on all products except food.

Lastly, I would like to add that Corry Hamilton is a column writer and a sponsor of our monthly Club 717 newsletter.

At the this time I would like to wish all the readers a very Happy Thanksgiving.

If you know of a gay or gay friendly business, kindly have them contact me.

To Whom It May Concern:

As you may be aware, the organization BullyingCanada has been calling upon both provincial and federal government officials to assist in ensuring that workplaces, schools and communities are able to be safe environments for all.

On June 18, 2009 the New Brunswick Government proclaimed "Anti-Bullying Day" to take place on December 17th of each year.

As someone who endured physical, verbal and mental abuse at the hands of bullies, for a number of years, I was delighted when Premier Graham stood in the Legislature to and made the following statement:
"Bullying simply has no place on our playgrounds, in our schools, in our workplaces, in our communities, or anywhere else in our province."

Following the statement by the Premier, MLA David Alward added, "This is what our responsibilities as legislators are all about. We need to work on behalf of all of the citizens of New Brunswick."  He went on to say,  "I believe that it is very telling that, on the second to last day of the legislative session, we are coming together to move a motion that makes great sense for New Brunswickers and, in the long term, will allow New Brunswickers and our society to increase public awareness of the problem of bullying. I want to encourage all those in New Brunswick to get involved in this issue and to ensure that we see continued reduction of bullying within our schools and communities."

We are asking if it would be possible for your company to allow your employees to take a stand on our second annual "Anti-Bullying Day," by suggesting your staff wear blue, the color of the national anti-bullying awareness ribbon, on Dec 17th?

Media attention on the issue of bullying has been increasing over the last
several years, with regards to "Anti-Bullying Day."   We would like to compile a list of companies that will take part in this event.  This list will, with the permission of your company, be shared with the media.  However, if your company would rather not be publicised please inform us of this decision and we will honour your desires.

If you would be interested in learning more about how your staff can take part in wearing Blue on December 17th please contact Rob Frenette by email at:
Rob.Frenette@BullyingCanada.ca or by telephone: 877-352-4497 EXT 203.

Sincerely,
Rob Frenette

Corry's Pet Care Message

Litter Box
 Issues

Q: Our cats have stopped using the litter box; do you have any suggestions to get them back in the habit?

A: There are four main reasons for a cat to stop using its litter box.
Location-
Is it too noisy or too much foot traffic?
Does the room have an unpleasant odour? Or have you recently moved the litter box to a new area, which the cat doesn't like. Cats are creatures of habit and they like quiet spaces for their bathroom.

Litter Boxes-
Do you have one litter box for each cat or do they have to share? There needs to be at least one litter box per cat.
Do you use covered litter boxes that might not get cleaned enough? Some cats are
very particular about how often their litter box is cleaned.
Do you have an older cat, which might not be able to get into a larger litter box?
Look for litter boxes that have a lower entry point but a higher back to keep litter in.

       3. Litter Issues---
Do you use a scented litter? Lots of cats prefer an unscented litter.
Have you changed the litter? When changing a cat litter, you should have a box of
old and of the new, to cut down on the chance of accidents.
Texture of the litter-some cats find silica crystals or pellets uncomfortable on their
        paws.

Health Issues--- Your cats may have a urinary tract infection which can cause
Them pain or feel like they need to go, resulting in them not wanting to use the litter box. Take them to the vet for a simple test.
Behavioural-your cats may display their displeasure at changes to their routines by peeing outside the litter box. Consider the Bach flower remedy, Willow. It restores good temper.

I'm sure that you will be able to figure out from this list, what might be going on with your cats and you will be able to rectify the problem. Good luck!

I'm looking forward to hearing from you. This column is all about you and your pets. Keep the questions coming to info@takingthelead.ca

Have a pawsitive day!

OCTOBER  IN  THE  GARDEN

By answering the questions that I have received, I'll probably be saying everything I need to say about  October in the Garden.

To winter over tropical water plants in the house is very challenging. They need mega light and are somewhat demanding for water conditions. I personally would send them to the compost pile and purchase new ones next year, if they were some of your favourites.  When you do not know which ones are tropical and which ones are hardy, it's even more difficult to decide.  I would let everything winter right there in the pond.   Next spring you will see what had wintered.  You will definitely know by late May.  I used to have a lot of water plants.  Now I only have hardy water lilies that get bigger each year and elodea, a ferny water plant that oxygenates the water and provides food and shelter to baby fish.

When ponds are 4 feet deep, they should be able to winter fish naturally.  The fish should swim down and hibernate near the bottom. But that does not always happen.  So people purchase pond heaters and/or air pump bubblers.  You do not need to have both.  The pond heater  creates an opening in the ice, which allows for air exchange. Toxins in the water can escape through the  opening, and oxygen in the air can be  absorbed by the water.  The toxins come from decaying plant matter, fish feces, food that is rotting in the water.  An opening allows that surplus of toxins to escape, especially carbon dioxide.

The air bubbler, should keep an opening in the ice, because there is constant air movement in that section of water, so an opening remains. I guess one way of looking at it is when the total surface freezes, it is like putting a lid on a bottle.  With no air exchange, the living fish suffocate.

I used to buy a floating water heater which kept about a four foot opening in the ice.  Make sure to purchase one with a wire ring around the floater, or it could melt your plastic or rubber liner.  I find that the water heaters last one to two years.  Also if you use a water heater, you will find that the pond comes to life, 3 to 4 weeks earlier in the spring.

I am not sure what kind of lights you have in your pond.   If they are
floaters, I would remove them for the winter.  If they are submerged, then you probably could just leave them in. As for timing, I like to have the garden. the pond the garden furniture all cleaned up and put away by Halloween.  Not that you can't do this in November, but October usually still has some nice weather, to work out in the garden.  I do not like doing this stuff when it is cold and wet.   Last year I just unplugged the waterfall pump and left it in the pond all winter.  It started up when I plugged it in, in May.  So, I will be leaving it in again this year. I will unplug it about mid October.

If I were to move perennials now, I would cut them back to about 6 inches and get them planted as soon as possible.  As far as cleaning up a perennial or butterfly garden, I would not.  By leaving the dead flower heads, you are probably providing some food for the birds. Also by leaving  them intact, you may see a lot of reseeding of those perennials in your garden, which you can dig up in early summer and move to another location, or let them grow where they may.  With this kind of reseeding, you may have to thin out the plants because you can only have so many in one space.  In the backyard, I leave everything standing, because of birds, and the winter landscape.  The front garden we clean up, because it is a neater and tidier look, more formal.  The backyard is more casual.

Things that are in bloom in my garden right now:
Fall Clematis, roses, annual pots and gardens, morning glory vine, lamium, hostas, hydrangeas, dianthus, garlic chives (tall white cluster flowers), chrysanthemums, asters, phlox and honeysuckle vine.

So enjoy your garden.  Fall is here and winter is approaching.  Have a great Halloween!!

Till next time  IN THE GARDEN,

Charlie

Something to Say - by SavanaughSavanaugh

It was not that long ago that I began to settle in and resign myself to a slow movement away from my social and political activism.  After year upon year of fighting for the rights of our community, I had begun to become a little complacent.  Was there anything left to fight for?   Am I working and fighting a cause that has become a non-issue.  After all, we now have gay marriage, our community is stronger than ever and our youth are coming out at the highest rate ever.   I had falsely settled in to the belief that my work was becoming obsolete.

More than one recent event however has hit me hard; caught completely off guard.  My complacency had permitted me to become naïve and lax in both judgment and my responsibilities as a social activist.

The first was a recent out of town performance.  The show went brilliantly but the after show was not so much fun... and a definite reminder that complacency can lead to danger.  I had decided to remove the female garb into my boy clothes to end the night with some dancing and drinking at the bar.  One of my fellow performers however, decided to leave the drag on in all of her glory!   We had closed the bar and headed to the streets.  Desperate for something to put in my mouth (shutup), we headed up the street to the local hotdog vendor.  Our naivety and complacency gave us the false sense of safety as we wondered away from the bouncer positioned at the front of our gay friendly bar.  I had just uttered the words, "are we safe in this community", when we were surrounded by a bunch of drunken college boys.  The name calling flew as each realized they were in the presence of a drag queen.  Faggot and Tranny were the mild of the homophobic slurs that headed her way.  At a quick pace, we headed back to the safety of the bar we just completed a show at.  A couple of the drunks followed and continued to harass until we rushed ourselves into a safe vehicle to take us to safety.

In my own classroom, a black student went off on me when an image of a black gay couple was projected on the screen when we were dealing with internal racism during a lesson.  He proceeded to inform me that there was no such thing as a black faggot because Blacks are real men.  Remaining calm and collected, I found myself relying on fellow students to come to the defense of all gays.

In our community, we have all been shocked by the extremist, homophobic comments made by an Ajax candidate during a mayoral debate.  I am still in shock that the pride flag being raised was being compared to the Nazis.  Further, statements about gays being "saved by Jesus" were used to defend her position.  If we all found Jesus, we would be cured.  I am unable to express the depth of shock I am feeling.

We have all been the victim of homophobia.  We know it very well.  Whether it be delivered by a public figure in a public venue, a student in a classroom, or a mob of homophobes as they surrounded their target as prey.  No matter how hardened one becomes, it continues to penetrate and hurt.  We were afraid for our safety as we had been surrounded.  I was hurt deeply as a student made verbal attacks and felt for that closeted black gay student standing beside me.  We are all hurt when a public figure equates us with Nazis.

As a political and social activist, I apologize for my complacency. I was premature in beginning an early retirement.  As long as homophobia continues to exist and people are being hurt, we owe it to the community to continue the fight.  Lets just say... watch out homophobes cause the bitch is back!

There ya have it.

URGENT ACTION NEEDED - DON'T JUST SIT AND DO NOTHING.... by Jayme HarperSavanaugh

We need all of you to come out for support on OCT 5th Stop Homophobia from being the norm in Town Hall Ajax

Dear Jayme,

Thank-you for your note. I did indeed object to raising the pride flag, I saw it as something that alienates people from each other. It causes us to focus on our differences and splinters our community  instead of uniting us and focusing on our commonalities. Had it been done in conjunction with the raising of multiple flags(including the Nazi flag, amongst others) in recognition of some unified achievement then fine - that would indeed show a true sense of "inclusiveness".   ie: all these groups got together, put aside their differences and turned an overgrown wasteland into a neighbourhood park. Yeahhh ! That would be proof of a truly "inclusive" community and merit recognition.

Judging by some of the angry responses to my stand on this, it would appear that pride and prejudice is alive and well in Ajax with each group "rating" how bad / good they are compared to one another, and each one asking for special treatment. I fear that unity, whilst noble, is a  hopeless cause in this secular world that shakes its fist at our God and creator.

That's the bad news, the good news is that, for those who so choose to turn to Jesus, a whole new life awaits. A greater sense of being loved and cherished than I ever knew before, is now mine and His offer is totally "inclusive" - no exceptions !

I'll pray I see you on the road to paradise !

Love much, Sherry C

Email reply to Sherry

Dear Sherry

I would only imagine it is difficult for you to see the hardships, exclusions and discrimination's the LGBT Community have gone through - we are not looking for more than anyone else.  We are no less human than our brothers and sisters.  Yet you have already judged us before we even met.  You spoke about the pain the family must endear when someone comes out - I do know this pain as I once came out of the closet, I have help many Parents, brothers, sisters all understand.  There would be less pain if indeed the community was educated, accepting and inclusive to diversity.  LGBT people were born to love and accept who they do, this is not learned or different it is very much normal.

When a community has gone through such hardships - raising the flag to say yes indeed you are included in our community was a great act by Town Hall, it did not exclude anyone.  The community as a whole was represented many diverse groups were there in support - we did all come together as one.   I am truly sorry you excluded yourself from this experience.

The hurt responses I have seen - you are doing more damage than good.  You have not only insulted the LGBT, Jewish residents and many Diverse Communities, you have hurt the community we call Ajax and Durham.

You speak about the good news
The good news is my God on the path to paradise embraces all - not some but all. He also is the Judge not us.  None of us were tasked to Judge.

Your responses and your candidacy has hurt many in the community
I would urge you to Apologize for the hurt you have cause and drop out of the running.  You are not the Mayor this community would welcome.

Hurt by your words and your judgement,

Jayme Harper

Email to the Community:
Dear Friends and Ajax DACE Committee Members.
(Please Read the email below this one)
Then decide where you stand - as I do not want to be the last one standing!   We have to send a clear message that this is not acceptable!

It would sadden me to see the work and the progress the Town of Ajax has made, be tossed out of the window not only for the LGBT community but for the greater meaning of Diversity and Engagement.

I encourage all communities to come together on OCT 5th 7.00 PM at Town Hall - the Mayoral Debate in Ajax and again on OCT 25th to say NO to Sherry and her vision without us, the community she hopes to represent. I have never taken a political side in public but this is being tossed in my face and my values and my human rights are being questioned.
I AM WHO I AM AND I BELONG, WE BELONG!   I would have no problem standing beside you!

Not only am I shocked - I am shaken. It really takes a lot to Shake Me (if you have met me you know this) but I am.

SPEAK OUT AND SPEAK UP !

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out--
    because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--
    because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out--
    because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
    because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me--
and there was no one left to speak out for me..................

I have yet to gather my thoughts to reply to Mrs Clymer as I am lost for words for her.

Will you stand with me on OCT 5th

Jayme !

Sherry's email of "RETREAT"
To Whom it may concern,

My Nazi comment was in conjunction with several other groups and taken out on its own. I realize that I crossed the line even mentioning it and I am truly sorry. Offering to serve as mayor was out of a belief I could make a positive contribution to my community but it is apparent  I'm doing exactly the opposite. Please forgive me and forget me.
Yours truly, Sherry C

My response to Sherry
Sherry

Thank you for your apology and your retreat as a candidate to be the Mayor of Ajax.
I believe everyone has the right to their own opinion and convictions in life but opposing them onto others impedes on their human rights. We need a Mayor who can understand the diversity and respect for the whole community and accept and engage them as they are.

I hope you have the support around you to help you through this emotional ride we have all endeared.  Tomorrow is new day and never too late to love thy neighbour.

I would also suggest to members to feel free to email her directly but be respectful. She has the right to her opinions - however the position she is applying for she could not support the LGBT community as she believes they can be healed
