Veteran teachers join Harambee!

Please join us in welcoming our two newest staff members to the Harambee Christian School family, Mrs. Patty Young and Mrs. Laura Kramer. Mrs. Young and Mrs. Kramer are taking on the roles of middle school math and science education at Harambee, respectively.  And we couldn't be more excited to have their wealth of knowledge, experience, and love for our students.

UCHaving previously taught at Calumet Christian Schools, we know Mrs. Young and Mrs. Kramer will set the bar high for our first ever 8th grade class.

When asked what brought her to Harambee, Mrs. Kramer said:  "I love teaching middle school, and I have helped lead Urban Concern Bible studies for 6 years.  Put the two together, with God's passion for working in the inner city."

Even  though the year has just begun, Mrs. Kramer already has a variety of goals for each student:  "I want to help students understand their world through science, become critical thinkers, and have fun learning science.  I want students to engage their natural curiosity, think critically, and act as stewards towards the environment."

The need in our community is great, and you can get involved with Mrs. Young and Mrs. Kramer, and other teachers at Harambee through volunteering.  To those thinking of getting involved, Laura says, "Pray for God's leading. Pray that God would enlarge your heart for this community, and don't be surprised at what God asks you to do.  If he asks, trust Him. He must feel that you are qualified for the task!"

Stay tuned to the next Voice of Concern for a spotlight on Mrs. Young!
