Moving it forward during the Summer

Harambee Community Center hosts "Summer school" for all ages.

Even though Summer vacation is in full swing, the halls of Harambee have been filled with students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults.

Harambee Hosts Superheroes at VBS

Last week, masked marvels from X-Men to Ninja Turtles paraded around the hallways and classrooms of Harambee Community Center for Urban Concern's first ever Vacation Bible School.

An average of 35 students through grade 4 attended each day  for fun lessons, games, singing, arts & crafts, and lunch, with a family cookout wrapping up the week.

Urban Concern thanks the many wonderful workers and volunteers who helped make this week a great success!

We can't wait for next year!

Parent University Kicks Off

As Harambee superheroes ran around on the first floor, Urban Concern's adult education initiative,
Parent University, kicked off GED testing classes upstairs.

Three days a week, individuals 19 and above are able to meet one on one with tutors to work towards earning their GED.  This free class is just one of multiple opportunities adults and parents have at Urban Concern to become better equipped to be agents of positive change in their community and the world.

Urban Concern is also excited to offer its next round of

Parenting With Love & Logic classes this August.
