Give to UC by shopping at Kroger - Shoppers must re-enroll between 4/1 and 4/31!
You can give to God's work in South Linden just by shopping at Kroger!
Registering your Kroger Plus Card is easy. Even if you've registered in the past, shoppers must re-enroll every year!
The good news is that signing up for community rewards does NOT effect your personal fuel perks savings - so you still get your fuel perks AND Urban Concern gets money!
For step by step instructions on how to register, click here.
You may begin registering for the 2011/2012 year as early as April 1st. Rewards for the 2011/2012 year will begin accumulating May 1st. (It's recommended that even if you register starting today, that you check your online account in May to make sure your Community Rewards still reflect giving to Urban Concern.)
Urban Concern's agency number is 84179

Come Together and Move it Forward ...the hearts, minds, and faces of
Harambee Christian School
Harambee is an African word, which means Come together and move it forward, which is exactly that the student of Harambee Christian School have named their first recently published book.
Every student in the school contributed a story, poem, quote, or list that reflects the three proclamations of the school's declaration: WE CAN, WE ARE, and SO WE WILL.
The book is filled with striking insight, wisdom, and humor from a unique perspective - from our wonderful students who persevere every day to bring new life and hope to a community in desperate need.
We are thrilled with the outcome and know you will be too!

Students rally for School Choice! Thousands turn out to show support
 | | Check Facebook for more pics from the rally! |
On Tuesday, March 22nd, students from Harambee Christian School and from schools all over the state joined together in front of the state house to show their support for expanding School Choice in Ohio.
School Choice and vouchers allow many of our students to attend Harambee and receive a great education and personal guidance, who would not otherwise be able to afford it.
The students and families of South Linden are grateful for this opportunity to encourage the expansion of School Choice in Ohio!

Volunteer Spotlight
Sam Kramer - 4th & 5th Grade ASP
 Name: Sam Kramer
Age: 20
Major: Associate of Arts at Columbus State Community College
Please join us this month in thanking Sam, a dedicated volunteer who serves 4th and 5th grade students throughout the week in the After School Program. Here's what Sam had to say about getting involved with Urban Concern:
I didn't know what to expect when I started volunteering. The more I started to help out, the more I got to see what a cool thing the After School Program is for these kids. I wanted to do what I could to support it.. I've been blessed in so many ways, and I know that just giving a little bit of my time helps these kids a lot. Getting to see these kids grow and mature has been a constant source of joy in my life. I've learned a lot about working with kids that I've been able to apply to all areas of my life. I've also made some great friends! I've had so much fun working with these kids! I was definitely a little scared when I started, but it's been a great experience. I would tell anyone thinking about getting involved to just try it. It can't hurt to give it a shot and it'll be well worth your time! -- Interested in making a difference like Sam?
