2010 Annual Report - Out Now!
2010 was a dynamic and transformative year at Urban Concern. We welcomed our first class of 6th graders to Harambee Christian School, expanded our long-running After School Program, added three new staff members, and launched an initiative to pair each and every student with their own mentor.

2010 also saw the remarkable generosity of numerous individuals and foundations advance Urban Concern's mission of empowering students and families to be agents of positive change in South Linden and the world.
We are pleased to share our 2010 Annual Report, which highlights all of the above, as well as outlines the road ahead. We are more excited than ever to bring change to our community and are humbled and grateful for your continued partnership. -- |

Harambee Students Get "Plugged in" at Emerson Network Power
4th grade students at Harambee recently had the privilege of visiting Emerson Network Power as a way to wrap up their latest classroom unit on electricity.
Our students saw first hand the incredible capabilities of Emerson's facilities and were treated to lunch prepared by their own chef. Every employee greeted our students with a smile and were excited to share their jobs with the class.
Special thanks to Plant Manager, James Shernisky, a terrific host who was great with the students. Urban Concern is grateful for Emerson Liebert's continued support of Harambee students...some of whom now plan on being electrical engineers! |

Huntington Bank Helps Expand Harambee and Economic Literacy
Urban Concern is pleased to thank Huntington Bank for their recent pledge to support the expansion of
Harambee Christian School and economic literacy education.
With Harambee's recent expansion to include middle school, the school has also made it a priority to advance the economic literacy of our student body through expanding economics education and our student run business, Harambee Imports.
Thank you, Huntington! Our students are excited to grow in their knowledge and understanding of economics and business in order to break the cycle of poverty.
