UC Volunteer Connection
- New Ministry Updates E-Group
Hello volunteers and mentors at Urban Concern!
You've recently been added to our new Volunteer Connection mailing list. Our goal is to provide brief periodic updates to help empower your ministry at Urban Concern and Harambee Christian School.
We want to keep you better informed and involved with how God is using you in this ministry. We'll share our prayers and goals for seeing the youth and families in South Linden walk with Christ, as well as practical ways you can get involved with what God is doing here.
More than anything, Urban Concern seeks to see lives transformed through God's grace in Christ. As volunteer ministers along side of us, you play a crucial role in spreading God's love to our youth and families and encouraging their growth in the body of Christ!
(If you do not wish to receive these periodic emails, simply click unsubscribe at the bottom of this page.)
We are grateful for all of your help in seeing God transform our community one person at a time.

Prayerfully Moving Students Towards Spiritual Activity
In addition to the benefit students receive from one on one investment from you, there are also a number of spiritual programs available to our students...and yet these are currently drastically underused! We strongly encourage you to pray, ask questions, and encourage any students you are building relationships with to get involved in the body of Christ.
Here is a breakdown of spiritual programs available to students based on their grade level.
-- Students in K - 3rd grade: Children's Church, held at Harambee on Sundays at 11. (This takes place along side of the adult South Linden Community Bible Study in our gym at the same time) Students in 4th & 5th Grade: TNT @ Xenos 4th Street Pavilion. This start at 11 and run alongside Xenos 4th Street CTs. |
Students in 6th - 8th grade: AMP @ Xenos 4th Street Pavilion. This starts at 11 and run alongside Xenos 4th Street CTs.
In addition to being eligible for personal mentoring, students in grades 4-8 are able to join same gender cell groups for their grade. -- How can you help move students towards spiritual growth? Students look up to you! They think you are cool! So, if they know that you think "going to church" is cool, then they are going to think it's cool too! Consider talking to students you are currently building relationships about: - Their walk with God
- Whether or not they go to the above meetings
- Your personal walk with God
- Your personal experience in fellowship
Also.. Pray! Please take the time to pray for the students you are building relationships with or could potentially have an influence on. Pray that they would walk with Christ and that God would use you to help show them how! Pray that they would get involved with the above programs and build godly relationships with others. And pray that our students would also be able to reach their friends and families for Christ as well! |
