Volunteer Spotlight
Michael Mullineaux
We're excited to introduce Michael Mullineaux, a volunteer in Urban Concern's After School Program and mentoring program.  He is a student, deciding between a major in education and physical therapy, and FOH employee at Northstar Cafe.

Mike and Deon
Mike and Deon at our Middle School Study Table

Here's what Michael has to say about volunteering at Urban Concern:

"I realized how much of an impact spending a couple hours a day with the kids at the school could have on them... I wanted to get to know the kids and be able to influence them in a positive way."

Since starting as a volunteer at our Middle School Study Table, Michael decided to become a mentor with Urban Concern, as well:

"My favorite part about mentoring has been getting to know a 6th grader named Deon...it has changed my life drastically. He is 12 years old and so impressionable.  I have been hanging out with him a couple times a week, and I know that he is at the age that if I speak truth into his life and show him how to follow God, he can be a great worker for the Lord; but if he doesn't have anyone there for him, he can be drawn into living a life without God.  I am so thankful for the opportunity that I have to spend time with Deon."

Harambee 5th graders' take on a classic.  Like Snoopy, we like to think our students are so excited about going to school at Harambee, they can't stop talking about why they are here!
