UBA Marketing Coordinator AdvancesTyla Conerly Leaves A Trail of Accomplishments After more than two years of spearheading marketing projects and overseeing the UBA's thriving Top 10 newsletter, Tyla Conerly has announced that she will be advancing her career in a new, full-time position at OJC Technologies. Our staff at the UBA is sorry to see her go, but we remain grateful for the impact she has made here at our organization. Among her accomplishments and duties here, Tyla handled Sweetcorn Festival sponsorship and marketing, oversaw Holiday Market vendors, led the downtown banner program, scheduled ribbon cuttings and redesigned our networking invitations. During her stint here, she has shown an incredible amount of creativity and great work ethic. Tyla has proven herself as both a great teacher and a great learner. Tyla, we wish you an amazing journey in your career! This week, she passes her title to incoming marketing intern Kelly Garrison, who in addition to her work at UBA is pursuing an advertising graduate degree at the University of Illinois. We look forward to her contributions to our team! |
A Cure for Summertime BluesKrannert Uncorked with The Painkillers Krannert Center for the Performing Arts has got just the prescription for summertime blues. Today there will be a free performance by The Painkillers, a soulful sextet with sounds of harmonica, bass, drums, guitar and vocals. Grab a drink and sip alongside the bluesy tunes wafting from Stage 5. Audition for FOOTLOOSE CUTC Announces Public Opportunity
The Champaign Urbana Theatre Company is proud to announce auditions for the summer production of FOOTLOOSE. The show will run the first two weekends in August at the Parkland Theatre. Performers should bring 32 bars of prepared music, preferably with an '80s pop feel; an accompanist will be provided. Tryouts include a short cold reading from the script and are limited to ages 10 and older.

Art Gallery Bicycle Tour Tour Stops Around Town at your Leisure!
 Heartland Gallery and Kalarte Gallery will be among the stops on this second annual urban bicycle tour organized by Peter Davis of Champaign Cycle and co-sponsored by participating galleries and shops. The tour pace is at your leisure and begins at 10:00 a.m. in the sculpture garden at Meadowbrook Park. Entry forms are available at participating businesses. An Artful Summer Public Invited to Several Installations around Town
An opening reception for JUNGLE, an art installation by Mia Capodilupo, will take place from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, at 133 W. Main St. The event will feature a discussion of alternative spaces and artist projects. The Urbana Public Arts Program would like to invite the public to attend this and other art events around town within the next two weeks.

The Urbana Park District will kick off its Neighborhood Nights summertime tradition on Wednesday, June 9, with Lugnutz and Oldies Rock-n-Roll at Carle Park. The Neighborhood Nights series features a wide variety of free activities and entertainment right in your own back yard. Bring blankets and lawn chairs and watch entertainment featuring some of the most talented local music acts. If inclement weather occurs, shows are rescheduled for the following night.

"Noontide Trilogy" Mythological Opera
