Absolutely everyone can help homeless animals in some way during the last two weeks of May. You can bring us your usable goods, you can volunteer to help before, during, or after the sale, or you can simply come and shop!

Institute Launches a Full Summer of Classes

New SweetcornThe Yoga Institute of Champaign-Urbana is excited to announce the beginning of its Summer 2010 Session next week. The 8-week session begins Tuesday, June 1st. We offer a variety of 90-minute classes including: Introductory, Seniors, Men, Women, Teens and other levels for experienced students. Our teachers have intense training in the Iyengar Method. Classes take place in two well-equipped studios, with all mats and props provided. The drop-in class fee is $14, and discounts are available for a full-semester payment.

Station TheatreHilarity ensues when a meeting that never happened, but should have, takes place between Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso. Although the two never actually met, this play imagines an encounter at a bar in Paris only a few years before both men were world-famous. Rick Orr, along with the rest of the Celebration Company at Station Theatre, present this play along with more as part of their upcoming summer schedule.

Po' Boys Summer Bag Toss League Sign Ups have begun! Fun activities include opportunities to win cash prizes, regular drink specials and great food. The league runs for seven weeks and concludes with a tournament on July 29th. Thursday night leagues begin June 10, with fees due June 3rd. When signing up, remember to include players' names, a team name, an email contact and a phone number.

A Place for Creative Expression

Kids' Yoga CampChildren ages 5 to 11 are invited to enroll in Art & Yoga camp at Amara. Kids will do a variety of expressive arts and crafts projects such as self portraits, sock dolls, mandalas, fairies and Fairy houses, knitting and other yarn creations, painting & drawing. They can learn basic yoga elements through focused breathing, play, storytelling, balance and creative visualization. These fun classes are interactive and relaxing.

A 40-year project which began in 1968

  "Noontide Trilogy" Mythological OperaIn the Age of Aquarius, 300 to 400 years from now, one orphan protagonist has ventured on a quest for Mother Earth. This mythological opera trilogy of self-actualization, love, hope and redemption combines both spoken word and music. Sounds will capture the essence of classical pieces, with influences such as Wagner, Beethoven, Schubert as well as native American music. With 35 cast members, Noontide Trilogy will feature talent from within the community - including six local youth. This performance and others will busy Foellinger auditorium throughout the summer.
