One Million Meals for Haiti
Setting the stage to prepare One
Million Meals for Haiti!
The Salvation Army and Numana prepare the stage for one of the largest volunteer efforts this community
has ever seen. Trucks will deliver enough ingredients and
supplies to package one million
meals, which will then be sent to Haiti to feed victims of the January
earthquake. Organizers of the event will then set up packaging stations
at which volunteers will form a simple assembly line and package
thousands of meals. One of the keys to keeping the cost low is the
volunteers who have come forth to work two or four hour shifts this
Saturday and Sunday.
It's not too late to volunteer! To
sign up, click here or call (217) 398-0428 Saturday, April 24: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm Sunday, April 25: 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm 1916 Glenn Park Drive, Champaign

2010 Law Day Foot Race On your mark, get set, go!
Law Day is meant to reflect on the role of law in the foundation of the
country and to recognize its importance for society. Come out to Downtown Urbana and learn about the rich history of law and how President Abraham Lincoln was involved in it right here in our community! Regardless of your age or fitness level,
you'll find our footrace in front of the Courthouse in Urbana a perfect
challenge as we celebrate Law Day 2010. Lincoln look-alikes encouraged. The historical significance of the foot race is that Abraham Lincoln practiced law in Urbana, and during that time they proposed a foot race, which Lincoln won! Don't forget to stop by the Lincoln Exhibit inside the courthouse

Big James & the Chicago Playboys
"Thank God I Got the Blues!"
Blues often suffers from too much of the same old sound but Big James is
different from today's blues re-hash. The Chicago-based singer,
song-writer, producer, and trombone player combines blues, soul, R&B
& funk in his horn-drenched music. Big James & the Chiago
Playboys take the music where it hasn't been.

LIP SERVICE: 12-person Jazz Ensemble
Flairs of Hip-hop, rock, R&B, classical, house, and electronica!
With strings, oboes, vibraphones and flutes augmenting familiar jazz
instruments, the ensemble tears through complex jazz harmonies, blinding
drum and bass grooves, classical-inspired forms, unapologetic hip-hop
rhythms, and deeply soulful melodies. What does the ensemble hope to achieve with its performances? "We
just want to spread some unadulterated joy out there. Not the kind of
joy which makes you ignore and forget your problems or the problems of
the world, the kind which helps you accept those tribulations and find
ways to work through them."
