Urbana-Champaign Big Broadband
Google has announced a pilot program to build fiber-to-the-home in a limited number of communities across the country!

UC2B & Google Fiber
We think our community would be perfect for Google's program, but then again so do dozens of other communities in Illinois and hundreds across the country. It would use backbone network that will be built by the UC2B Broadband grant. The UC2B partners are working towards filing an application with Google prior to the March 26th deadline. To gauge local support for Google investing in a community, Google has created an on-line nomination form that you can fill out and submit.

1) Fill out the online Google Form to Nominate Urbana-Champaign
for Google Fiber.
2) Join as a Facebook fan so we can show how many supporters and have online discussions about how we will use Google Fiber.

3) Win a "We Need Big Broadband" bumper sticker by being one of the first 10 people to send me a message on Facebook with a C-U address where we can mail it to you.

Nomination Deadline: Friday, March 26, 2010

He And SheWritten in 1911, this pre-Nineteenth Amendment inquiry into gender roles, family priorities, and career goals feels fresh when viewed from our culture steeped in wanting to have it all. Ann and Tom are married artists who enter the same distinguished sculpture competition. Tom is at first supportive of Ann's work but quickly feels threatened once she wins. Should Ann give up her art to keep the peace at home? And what of their daughter, who's fallen in love with a chauffeur at her boarding school and shows no interest in continuing her studies?

American Diabetes Association Kiss a Pig Gala
Presented by Health Alliance

American Diabetes Association Kiss A Pig Gala

The purpose of the contest is to raise "votes/dollars" for candidates' campaigns.  Each vote is equal to one dollar.  The candidate with the most "votes/dollars" wins the privilege of kissing a live pig. We honor the pig because insulin, the drug used to control diabetes, was originally derived from a pigs pancreas. The Champaign County Kiss-A-Pig Gala will benefit diabetes research and education programs such as summer camp for children with diabetes. The gala includes a cocktail hour, silent auction, dinner, live auction and the kissing of the pig.
