Skyline Plunge: Toss Our Boss
If every downtown Urbana business gave just $20, we could reach our goal of $1,000!

Skyline Plunge: Toss Our Boss

Help Tyla, Katie and Johnnica raise $1,000 to rappel Susan 17 stories down Illini Tower! Drop your donation off by the UBA office to make her sweat! A spectacle never seen before in Champaign-Urbana is heading this way, thanks to Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC) and our partnership with S.T.A.R. The Bitter Tears, Ussop the Liar, Claire Johnson & Ben Leddy
Chicago's alt-county-rock spectacle The Bitter Tears comes down for their first Chambana show!

The Bitter Tears - Ussop the Liar - Claire Johnson & Ben Leddy
"From Punk Planet: 'Chicago's got a new contender. Orchestrated in madness, wits, and a sense of humor, I'm placing all my bets on the Bitter Tears.' "The Bitter Tears have staked their reputation on a sometimes lewd and entertaining theatrical live show, always heavy on spectacle. With their new release, Jam Tarts In The Jakehouse, The Bitter Tears display their creative growth as both musicians and storytellers. The album utilizes smart and direct pop structures to drive the menacing, old-school twang of the songs, deftly melding it all into an aesthetic that owes as much to Weill and Waits as Big Star and Hank.

Una Noche: Celebrating Great Mexican Life & Culture
The University of Illinois Library is spear-heading this April's Big Read celebration to promote through reading the spirit of creativity and greater cultural dialogue throughout our community. This year's programming focuses on the book, Sun, Stone, and Shadows: 20 Great Mexican Short Stories, and includes reading sessions, film and music events, lectures, and public school instructional sessions. Included in this April's celebration is a special month-long exhibition at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center entitled, Life in a Border Town, which features photographs taken by fifth grade students from the Felipe Carillo Puerto Primary School of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. These images portray the children's intimate view of their families, community, and life in school, and the two curators of this exhibition will talk about their experiences working with the children to create this unique show.

American Diabetes Association Kiss a Pig Gala
Presented by Health Alliance

American Diabetes Association Kiss A Pig Gala

The purpose of the contest is to raise "votes/dollars" for candidates' campaigns.  Each vote is equal to one dollar.  The candidate with the most "votes/dollars" wins the privilege of kissing a live pig. We honor the pig because insulin, the drug used to control diabetes, was originally derived from a pigs pancreas. The Champaign County Kiss-A-Pig Gala will benefit diabetes research and education programs such as summer camp for children with diabetes. The gala includes a cocktail hour, silent auction, dinner, live auction and the kissing of the pig.
