Ulysses' Crewman & Bruiser at IMC
Claustrophobic scenes and rockin' jump-blues!
Ulysses' Crewman is about a militant dissenter abuses her hostage from the US delegation while faintly aware of the audience surrounding her. With only a few props, two actors, one of who is bound and gagged, and a serious commitment to DIY politics, Insurgent Theatre refutes ancient dogmas found in Homer's Odyssey and examines the psychosexual underpinnings of empire and rebellion. Bruiser and the Virtues gives you chance to cut a rug, and learn some swing dance moves. There will be an hour long swing dance lesson, and then Bruiser and the Virtues will get you moving to the beat. Tunes range from the rockin' jump-blues of T-Bone Walker, to Booker T and the MGs, to Bruiser originals.

Up The Yangtze at Krannert
A shy story of competition in contemporary China!
The Three Gorges Dam divides past from future, human stories from monolithic forces, and country life from urban upheaval in Yung Chang's account of contemporary China. Yu Shui is sent away from her home near the Yangtze River to support her family when their land is scheduled to be engulfed by the rising waters. As she works on a cruise ship traveling one last time through the vanishing landscape, her shy story of competition against brash co-workers mirrors the upheaval of the nation.
