Safe Travel During the Winter Storm
This message brought to you by Urbana's Public Works Department!
1) Prepare for your trip by removing all snow and ice from your vehicle; especially head and tail lights.
2) Fill your gas tank and check your tires and wiper blades.
3) Plan ahead for the unexpected. Poor conditions can lead to accidents and leave you stranded.
4) Carry a winter emergency kit containing food, blankets, shovel and cell phone.
5) Listen to the latest forecast and street condition information. Leave early and allow yourself extra time to adjust to changing conditions.
6) Drive slower and increase your following distance.
7) Be aware of your surroundings and watch for snow plow trucks.
For more information about snow season, please contact Urbana Public Works at (217) 384-2342. |

News-Gazette Wedding Packages
The News-Gazette sends out wedding packages every week to newly engaged couples in our area. We send out roughly 20 or so a month and the mailings contain our I Do Magazine, flyers, brochures, magnets, business cards, coupons and other things from local businesses that could help in the planning of a wedding.
We'd like to see if any or all of our downtown businesses would like to provide something for these weekly mailings. It's free and is a good way to connect your business with local brides and grooms. The items should be fairly flat and able to fit in a 9"x12" mailing envelope. Nothing heavy please.
Questions about what we are doing or what items are appropriate for mailings? Contact Erin at 217-351-5376 or e-mail me. You may also drop off the items at the front desk of The News-Gazette. Just put Attn: Erin on them. |
