Make-A-Difference Day "Service All-Nighter"
Support iServe's mission to promote student volunteerism on the U of I campus!

Make-A-Difference DayDuring this event, iServe, together with over 50 students from many different campus organizations as well as community members will be engaging in service projects in hopes to lend a helping hand to your organization.
Be a part of this extraordinary event by providing the volunteers with opportunities to serve. Projects include, but are not limited to, stuffing envelopes, sorting clothes and toiletries, writing cards to senior citizens, putting together care packages, and clerical and computer work. We ask that all the projects be portable to the University YMCA and that volunteers can engage in the project on site.

Meet the Artist at Madeline's

Announcing Creativity Outside the Box!

Cheryl Frances CameronThe art exhibits of Cheryl F. Cameron & Rachel Drum, paintings, silks, and 3-D works will be displayed through October 30, 2009. Cheryl Frances Cameron paints perceptions of emotions and impressions of little details, walks in the park, dances and people in her life. Rachel Drum's primary interest is in the language of the unsaid in human communication. The art can be described as sensory stimuli to evoke memories going beyond the spoken word. Buffy Vance is a nationally and internationally trained Sugar Artist. She brings that passion back to the Champaign-Urbana sharing her art by teaching classes and outreaches.

The Crucible at Krannert's Studio Theatre
Witchcraft may be the topic, but you will recognize the power and self-interest of modern-day life!
 The Crucible
In Arthur Miller's Tony Award-winning play, the Salem witch trials serve as the metaphorical backdrop for this ruthless exposé of power and self-interest in its insidious forms: accusation, confession, absolution, ritual, and compliance. The Proctor family bears the burden of the mass hysteria gripping the village when teenage girls report they've seen various locals in the company of the Devil. Witchcraft may be the topic, but you will recognize the power and self-interest of modern-day life in this production that opens on October 29.

Trick-or-Treat for Change

Drivers needed! Costumes welcome!

Trick-or-Treat for Change

Trick-or-Treat for "Change" is an event where volunteers will trick-or-treat in the local communities asking for donations, and ultimately "change" (the money fundraised will help reduce substandard housing). Trick-or-treaters will meet at Newman Hall, check in, and be assigned to a group of four. Then, drivers will drive them to and from their assigned areas in Urbana or Savoy. Maps, collection "houses," stickers for identification, and cards explaining Habitat's mission to distribute upon donation will be supplied. Appropriate costumes are welcomed (remember we are representing Habitat). Hard hats will be provided to wear for a basic costume.
