Come out and run for hope!
Quest United Methodist Church is partnering with the Champaign-Urbana community to sponsor a second annual 5K run/walk. Last year, the Quest 5K Run/Walk raised over $3,000 to benefit Nothing But Nets, providing lifesaving bed nets for families in Africa. This year, Quest seeks to raise even more for scholarships to provide Liberian youth hope for their future and the future of their country after a decade long civil war. So come out and run for hope! Awards for top finishers will be presented. All proceeds from the Quest for Hope 5K Run/Walk will help send Liberian children and young adults to school.

| Metamorphosis |
| Stunning work not to be missed!
You are cordially invited to attend our opening reception for a new show, entitled Metamorphosis, featuring turned wood by Joe Landon of Bloomington, IL, and paintings by Heather Westfall of Big Lake, MN. Both artists have been inspired by the simple beauty in natural things, both hidden and visible. Joe believes that "the true character of wood, like people, lies deep within the soul." His work is stunning and not to be missed. Heather's paintings reflect the sacredness of the natural world, in all of its stages and transformations. Heather's work was previously featured along with her sister Cindy Westfall's paintings in the 2008 show, Two Sisters.

| Pecha Kucha Night |
Soon to become an event residents and students look forward to and anticipate with great excitement!
Pecha Kucha Night is an international phenomenon that brings creatives together for an evening of quick-fire, "show and tell"-type presentations, networking, and fun. Pecha Kucha's focus is on passion, not portfolio, and the presenters come from extremely diverse creative backgrounds. The Pecha Kucha format, 20 slides for 20 seconds each, allows 8-16 presenters only 6 minutes and 40 seconds to present. This keeps presentations concise and the interest level up.

Urbana's Market at the Square |
|
Corner of Illinois & Vine Street

It's Labor Day Weekend, which means an abundance of relatives and friends and feasting and grilling and general making of food. The weather looks fantastic for shopping the Market, and you can get everything you need at the Market for dinner. Meats and veggies to grill. Potatoes, scallions, and eggs for potato salad. Tomatoes, peppers, onions, and cilantro for pico de gallo and salsa. Sweet corn for the grill or kettle. Boules or baguettes or buns. The last of the peaches for a pie (or a whole pie if you don't feel like making one). See where I'm going with this? Just about everything you need to have the best cookout in the known universe can come from someone local.
