  • Spurlock Museum will be open until 9:00
  • Camille Born storytelling from 5:30 - 6:00
  • Krannert will display info about 2009-2010 season
  • Participating Sweetcorn vendors get free food samples
  • Tons O' Fun band will play from 7:00 - 9:00

THE 34th URBANA SWEETCORN FESTIVAL

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!
 
Corn Tent: Our corn operation is amazing!From the water base corn shucker (you have to see it to believe it) to the Antique Steam Engine cooking the corn to the hands on deck serving hot buttery ears of corn to hungry festival goers. Corn volunteers are the heart of this festival!
 
Pepsi: It might be hot and humid outside, BUT you will be nice and cool serving ice cold bottles of Pepsi products to thirsty festival goers. Talk about a sight for sore eyes, you will help make sure no one at this Sweetcorn Festival dies of thirst!
 
Miller Beer: What more needs to be said!
 
As a note, groups who sign up will not be split up unless they ask. Shifts are 3 hours in length and are available on both Friday, August 28th and Saturday, August 29th. You get a Sweetcorn T-shirt and a chance to be a part of the hardworking folks that help make this wonderful event possible. For service organizations, this is a great way to offer current members an early opportunity to earn some service hours.

People of all ages can learn to fish at these free clinics run by IDNR. Individuals and groups are invited to join us at Crystal Lake. Sessions are 2.5 hours long and begin at the Large Pavilion. Call 217-367-1544 to reserve your spot. This is the perfect activity for scouts, daycare groups and day campers.

& rechargeable) must have their
terminals taped before they are
deposited into battery recycling
collection tube or battery box.
Please use attached scotch tape to
tape the battery terminals.

Renato, the gay owner of a Saint-Tropez drag-revue nightclub, and Albin, his star attraction and partner, learn that Renato's son is planning to marry and will be bringing the ultra-conservative parents of his fiancé to meet them.

In the 1950's, at an isolated country residence, a family and its servants are preparing for Christmas. When the master of the house is discovered dead, each of the eight women in the house becomes a suspect - and each has a tale to tell and a secret to hide.
 
Films from the Alt Flicks series also are available for checkout on DVD from the library's extensive collection of films.
