Interested in star gazing but don't have a telescope? The Champaign-Urbana Astronomical Society and the William M. Staerkel Planetarium are making star gazing easy for you. Join the night sky park tour throughout the spring and summer. Telescopes will be set up in designated parks for a free look at the stars and planets.

Provena Covenant Honors Organ & Tissue Donors with Flags
Provena Covenant Medical Center, Donate Life America, and the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network are rallying together by participating in a Donate Life America initiative, Flags Across America. The initiative honors and celebrates the hundreds of thousands of donors and recipients whose lives have been affected by organ, tissue, and eye donations by flying a flag in their honor. An inaugural flag raising and flying will be located near the main entrance to the hospital. The public is encouraged to attend and can sign up to be organ and tissue donors at the event.

This weekend marks our first Sprouts at the Market event for the 2009 season. Sprouts is "nutrition and farm stuff" for kids age 4-10, and is designed to get them interested in eating healthily AND locally.
Sprouts leader Jen Hewitt has cooked up a supercool workshop/scavenger hunt for this weekend's Sprouts, complete with tasting and smelling and feeling fresh produce grown right here in east central Illinois. Details:
- Workshops are FREE
- This week's sessions start promptly at 9, 9:30, 10, and 10:30 AM (please sign in at the City tent a few minutes prior to your selected session)
- Each participating child will receive a Certificate of Participation from the Market Director and Sprouts leader
- Each child completing all four Sprouts workshops in 2009 will receive a free Sprouts shirt at the season's close in November (other events will be held July 25, August 22, and October 24)
- If your kid can't make all the events, don't fret - t-shirts will be for sale all season long!

The YMCA is especially looking for good household furniture, as it remains the hottest ticket item at the sale each fall. The Y does NOT accept: individual computer monitors, sleeper sofas, large appliances (stoves, washers, and dryers), non-working electronics, tires, non-working computers or parts, holiday decorations, video and audio cassettes, large exercise equipment, or mattresses.
If you need items picked up, we will be doing pick-ups the week of May 11-16. Please call Erika at (217) 337-1500 to schedule a pick-up.
