DEAN'S MESSAGE

Dean

Change describes the last decade at CoE. Through a series of changes, CoE was able to accomplish goals many thought unattainable. The college has taken its place amongst top institutions. Not only are our performance indicators at their highest levels ever, but the momentum behind these metrics is remarkable. Now it is time for a change in the leadership of our college. It is with mixed feelings that I address to you in this column for the last time.  I have served as the Dean for a decade and encountered many challenges.  I would like to extend  my heart-felt thanks for making my tenure as Dean so rewarding. I'm most confident that future leadership, beginning with my colleague Dr. Bruce Eisenstein, will help the college attain unimaginable success.  Any difficulty we face will be met head-on by the unstoppable team of remarkable students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of CoE.  I look forward to watching the college reach new heights!

Drexel Launches Smart Grid Project
Smart Grid Project
Drexel has launched their smart grid pilot project on campus this month. The system will provide real-time measurements of University power usage and eventually allow the University to sell energy back to the larger public grid. The University has become the first institution in the country to deploy Viridity's VPower System energy monitoring system on its main campus. Working with Viridity, Drexel installed the system on campus to demonstrate how an organization can manage its energy costs and environmental impact with real-time electric prices.
