DEAN'S MESSAGE
|
The start of the holiday season and the end of fall term is a time to enjoy the success of CoE and anticipate the promise to come. CoE has much to celebrate. Our novel thinking has led us to excel in our initiatives despite increasingly worsening economic conditions. In addition, we have remained committed to transforming the future by preparing our students to be leaders and innovators. We are also excited to announce our 2009 Engineer of the Year, Chris Ferguson. He is an exemplar of the power of engineering to transform lives. As we continue to the end of term, we wish the best of luck to our students and a happy and healthy start of the holiday season.

The image shows the fang-like structures, 400 micrometers in diameter, that a squid uses to latch onto its prey. Winning entries first appeared on the NSF web site, the Science web site and the September 2008 print issue of Science. The image also received national coverage on the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Ars Technica, AAAS, and MSNBC websites. For more information, please click here.
