Lego Art

The Art of the Brick exhibit, which is at the Everhart Museum in Scranton until May 2010, focuses on the wonderful creations by New York-based artist Nathan Sawaya using the popular LEGOŽ building block as an art medium. The exhibit features 29 works created solely from standard LEGO bricks over the period 2002-2007 with several new ones created specifically for this exhibit. Nearly one million colorful LEGOŽ pieces were used to create his whimsical and awe-inspiring sculptures.  Can't make it to the Everhart, then check out Sawaya's website brickartist.com.

Michele Dempsey (and her sister) Honored as One of The Top 25 Women in Business in NEPA

NE BJ Top 25 A panel of her peers has selected Michele Dempsey to be one of the recipients of the Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal 2010 Top 25 Women in Business honor.  They also chose her sister, Kristin Dempsey O'Donnell of Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply.   The sisters are thrilled that they will be honored individually and that they have finally reached a point in their lives that they no longer have to share (Michele sometimes still wears Kristin's hand-me-downs just by force of habit).  However, they do share a mutual pride for the others accomplishments.

Michele Dempsey Top 25This year's Top 25 Women panel reviewed a record number of nominations.  The women nominated represent a 19 county area of Northeast Pennsylvania.  The panel made its decision based upon the impact each nominee has had upon the community and her contributions to her professional field.

The Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal and the local chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners will honor this year's recipients at a luncheon at the Hilton Scranton and Conference Center in June.  Click to read the articles.
