Vegas Baby Vegas!

DxDempsey has designed a comprehensive prototype store  for Misura, a men's fine apparel boutique specializing in European designs and exceptional tailoring, at the Monte Carlo Las Vegas Resort and Casino.  We are currently adapting the prototype store design to a retail space in another casino in Las Vegas and we're working on a women's concept store. 

Stay tuned for more information in upcoming newsletters!  And wish us luck on the nickel slots during our site visits!

DxDempsey Staff Update

As the new year arrived we said good bye to our team member, Peter Zychowski, who is returning to the world of academia.  We also welcomed our newest staff member,  Michael Muller. 

Mike MullerMike earned his Bachelor's and Master of Architecture degrees from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. He brings with him eight years experience practicing architecture on a diversity of projects, from casinos to academic institutions.  In addition, he teaches
design courses in 3D Visualization and Portfolio Design at Marywood University.  Mike is also actively involved in the community. 
 
POWER! LogoHe was recently voted
POWER! member of the month . POWER! (Professionals Organized and Working to Enrich the Region) is an informal group of young (and young thinking) professionals whose mission is to promote the region as a vital and pleasurable place to live, work, and play. The initiative has successfully created a forum for young professionals in the region not only to meet, socialize, and network with their peers, but also to become involved in shaping their community. 
 
 
RadissonHe is also a Board Member of
the Architectural Heritage Association. The Architectural Heritage Association is a non-profit corporation founded in 1976 by a group of concerned citizens and professionals.  The organization is strongly committed to the preservation and reuse of architecturally significant buildings.
 
Mike takes pride in making meaningful architectural contributions to the region and beyond.  We are happy to have him as part of the team.

Lackawanna County Bike Rack Competition Winners Announced - Not Us

 
 We promised to let you know the outcome of the Lackawanna County Bike Rack Competition.   When the competition was narrowed down to 6 entries, we were excited to represent 3 of them.

McLain Bike RackAlthough we didn't win, we had a great time dreaming up our designs.  The pictures in this section illustrate snippets of our entries.  
   
 "Rotate/Innovate" M. Kelly
Kelly Bike RackThe winners are Colleen Farry for "Reinventing the Wheel," the team of Elijah Birtel and Ayla Rose Steimling for "Lightbulb," and Pat McGowan for "Chainring."
 
 
 
"Bike Cartography" M. Dempsey
Dempsey Bike RackThe three designs were selected by a panel of six experts in the fields of architecture, engineering and art.
  
 
 
Zychowski Bike RackThe designs will be fabricated over the winter and installed in various locations around the county. An unveiling ceremony will take place in the spring of 2010.  Click to see the winning entries.
