Consumers Plan Return to Jewelry Shopping for Holiday 2012

MVI Marketing Ltd.'s Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC) recently concluded 2012 Holiday Shopping Research Study shows a significant increase in consumers reporting that they will likely purchase jewelry for the upcoming holiday season.

The JCOC study was conducted from 28 September through 3 October 2012 and was completed by 1407 USA consumers.

Significant findings include:

  • 38% of respondents to this research study plan to purchase jewelry as a gift this upcoming holiday season
  • Those planning to purchase jewelry as a gift were twice as likely to indicate that they planned to purchase fine jewelry over costume jewelry this upcoming holiday season
  • More than half of respondents plan to shop both online and in-store, indicating that consumers will research comparison and price shop different options before making a selection
  • 52% of respondents who plan to purchase jewelry as a gift this upcoming holiday season, cited DISCOUNTS as likely to be very important to them this holiday season
  • While brand name products were not significantly important to respondents, they were willing to select their preferences for brands they'd like to give and receive
